So, Nine Inch Nails.
Opinions? I personally love The Downward Spiral and The Fragile, although I also like Pretty Hate Machine and Year Zero.

No.
Industrial music is a close relative of noise music. It is not hyperrhythmic dance music that's supposed to sound scary. Try Throbbing Gristle or Nocturnal Emmissions or better yet just get some noise music.
Sorry, I'm really way too opinionated on NIN.

Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Ratt, Warrant, Dragon Force, Dokken, Dio, Extreme, and Quiet Riot beat the living ♥♥♥♥ out of Nine Inch Nails separately. No questions asked. Nine Inch Nails just plain sucks. It's like Disturbed - so many kids like it because the youth of the world is being raised on ♥♥♥♥ music and told "this is awesome".

First of all, I'm not a kid, and it isn't like I let people pressure me into liking things. You like a different kind of music than me. That doesn't mean I have to go around calling your music "♥♥♥♥". Why don't you grow up or something.

That doesn't mean I have to go around calling your music "♥♥♥♥". Why don't you grow up or something. Because looking at today's metal bands with so many old good ones dead, the new ones are doing a really terrible job at carrying on the legacy. There's hardly any solos, no wailing and squeadaling from the guitars, and a whole lot of it is depressing. There have been only a few bands that are actually good today. While quite a lot of others, plain suck. And if you aren't a kid, who cares? If you aren't from the days of the actual hard rocking metal when Slayer made you feel like you're about to explode, when the Iron's made you feel the heat from a meteor hurtling towards the Earth, and when Megadeth made your eardrums scream from the loud sounds to rival an atomic bomb; then you don't know how much metal has gone down hill. If I were a teacher in a class with a subject of my choice, then I would assign and essay to all of the kids in those desks to summarize the soars and pitfalls of metal. Back in the day, all of it was about capitalism, women, flipping the bird at Satan, foreign country bashing, guitar, and loud screaming that you could understand but made you feel like it was someone actually more angry than your dad when you screwed up big time. Now it's just ♥♥♥♥ about blood, death, weak ass vocals, disowning much of the guitar's skills, and loud screaming that you can't understand a word of. I'm sure you're thinking from this "Wow, you are from such a long gone time". When really, it would be better that way if it still was the old style. Now when I listen to that alternative and modern metal on the radio today, I immediately pop in Ratt. And you know what, I rarely ever hear Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Motorhead, or any good metal bands on the radio. I've heard a little Metallica on the radio but it was typical Sand Man or Sad but True. Really, I want to open up a radio station with the motto "We play the classic metal. No annoying Smashing Pumpkins, no Gorrilaz, no bull♥♥♥♥. Just lean forward and bang your head as hard as you can."

Those bands are by no means bad, but they're not even the same genre as NIN. Iron Maiden is NWOBHM. Megadeth is thrash metal. Ratt is hair metal. Warrant is hair metal. Dragonforce is power metal. Dokken is hair metal. Dio is either NWOBHM or power metal, depending on who you ask. Extreme is hair metal. Quiet Riot is hair metal. NIN is alternative rock. Stop comparing metal bands to alternative rock bands. And go listen to The Downward Spiral before you say NIN sucks; I'm betting you've only heard their weaker albums (With Teeth, Year Zero) or you wouldn't be saying that.

Re: So, Nine Inch Nails.
NIN isn't even on the same spectrum as Iron Maiden because NIN is dirt while Iron Maiden is a shining example of timeless music. Industrial metal is hardly even metal.
(for mass effect form the devil horns and shake your hands at the last 'metal')
