Post Build 18 Pie Menu
This is a poll to see how many wich are unhappy with the new Pie Menu and how many wich are happy :).

Mostly a response to the massive whine i read on this forum (And devlog) about that many people are not willing to adapt.

New Menu

+Everything is easily accessible.
+Retains same functionality from earlier builds.
+AI and Actor Management Merged.
-Resource Intense. (Hardcoded Menu ring wich requires the computer to make all thos Sinus and Cosinus calculations all over again at each Frame.)
+\-More keypresses

Old Menu
+Fast to Use
+Descriptions
-Separated AI and Item management

I like the new menu actually, because that everything is accessible within a few keypresses and no hassle.

Only thing I don't like about the new menu is that it doesn't tell you which gun you have when you hold down the inventory button.
Like the old one would display "SMG" above the actor? I miss that.

I dont like that need-to-open-again-to-select-new-key thing and the no-weapon-name thing
If the "Pie" menu wouldnt require to be reopened everytime you need to swietch an item serval times in a row, it would be great... You might not understand this, what I mean is that in the old menu you could hold it and press the "Next item" button serval times and it will work, in the new menu you must open, select, close, open select and close again... And I dont like the buy menu button, it was so much faster and comfortable to use when you just needed to press both actor select buttons
Other then that, its very good

I'm half and half on this one, other. The new menu is cool, but the buttons are sometimes unresponsive for me.

It's too hard to reload and switch weapons because I have to mash 'up' or 'right' a couple times for it to select the option.

It hasn't killed me yet, it's just annoying.

After learning how to switch weapons quickly with the pie menu, this is my only complaint as well.

You cannot even begin to imagine how bad my computer is, as I don't get lag when popping up the menu. I find the pie chart really nice for people with anolog controllers and mouse controls. Horrible for anyone without.

It works actually fine for me with Keyboard. :)

If i want Gold mining AI then so do i just press down Menu Button, Tap Down and Tap Right. Very easy :D.

If you only learn the tricks so is it easy.

It's really hard to jump out of a ship and jet to safety in the new build, the game doesn't select the ejected guy automatically, and the actor switching keys are messed up.

lol @ sinus.

The new menu seems overly consolidated.

And for the record, the classic controls I remember from B9 no longer work, becuase data somehow screwed W into aim up AND jetpack.

Alenth. It only does that if you're using Keyboard+Mouse. Only control problem I've noticed is that You can't aim up in sharp mode. You can aim down, though.

Are you talking about teh first thing I said or the last.

And Classic != Keyboard + Mouse, so I assume you are smoking something.

I didn't even know eject was an option in the menu :|
I just press the same button I press to fire my gun and it ejects the person. BTW, I use a dual anolog USB controller.

I completely agree with this guy. Accept maybe on the buy menu, I've already gotten used to it so I'm meh towards it. What I can't wait for is the minimap. :)

Post Re: Build 18 Pie Menu
why is the minimap an option in the pie menu? That seems to me to be something that needs to be on all the time - in a corner or somewhere where it won't get in the way - instead of clogging up the important part of the game menu.
edited for clarity: when this function is implemented, having it in the pie menu wouldn't make much sense. minimap toggling would be easier with a single button press such as "tab" or "m" instead of cluttering important game menus.

as for AI modes, it made a whole lot more sense to change it when switching to a different actor. why would i want to switch an actor to dig mode, but still be using him? it's not efficient to have to switch actors, scroll through the pie, change modes, exit pie, and then change actors. i just want to cycle through everybody quickly, while still telling them what their jobs are gonna be.

the one ting i do like is how buy-menu and brain select are separate. it keeps your flak-cannoneers from blowing off everybody else's heads whenever you order another rocket.

my first post in the forums, btw
