???: "He did, yes. If I am recalling correctly, he was headed to a 'Hop-lit?' Or was it a 'Hop-loo-it?' I would have asked more about his intentions, but he declined my lunch invitation.

Though, it is worrying that there are two of these running about, a white-gold and a gold-white, as the one I saw felt quite powerful, the other will probably be similar. The boss will not take a liking to this."

Well, thank you for your help, I hope you enjoy your lunch."

???: ”Thank you. I would offer you a short-notice invitation, but it would be unacceptable of me to be already nearly done and you would just be starting.

Oh, I believe I have failed to introduce myself, please excuse my atrocious manners. The boss calls me ‘Gazebo,’ it is a pleasure meeting you.”

P’orihc: "I was thinking of like, sneaking past them or try to find another route. Avoiding the fight would be good in my opinion."

Miimas: "What about these guys' caravan? Also, uh, I'm a bit too heavily loaded to fly, and I need to keep my things dry."

Kyeltziv: "Tryin' t' snipe 'em or least lure 'em off the bridge sounds a good plan if we're gon' have t' fight 'em."

Ki’stha: "So move up quietly now until we can see them, I suppose."

P’orihc: "Okay, let's do that. Let's find a safe position to see what we are up against."

The party continues towards the bridge, now with the two newcomers in tow. Once it’s close enough, everyone finds a suitable hill and slowly crawls up to the top, hunkering down in the tall grass and peering at the bridge.

There’s no one in sight, though there’s a caravan on the other side of the river not far from the bridge.

Man 1: ”They’re all hiding. They’ll jump out as soon as you try to cross, and not a moment before.”

You experiment with your magic detection. You’re not exactly sure what kind of range you have, but you’re not sensing anything at the moment, nor do you think you’re capable of detecting magic that has been cast several minutes ago, or however long it was.

???: ”Before the corruption event, runic and vocal magic existed. The layman was capable of using magic by just speaking or writing down a rune. This made people hard to rule, and you see, there are always those who wish to control others. Since runic and vocal magic relied on the power of spirits, the lupus shamans collaborated and found a way to destroy that power, rendering the common person powerless to spirit caller or an experienced mage. There were attempts at bringing back runic magic that were successful on a small scale, but those were all undone and made impossible when the reapers were created.

Though, someone or something brought back runic magic. It shouldn’t be possible, but you experienced runic magic first-hand yourself. The highest ranking shamans of the Ruhe are aware that runic magic is usable again, and they seek to destroy all information on the art, as it would undermine their power as well as societies ruled by small groups. I must be careful about who I share information with, as anyone could be an assassin sent by the Ruhe to silence me.

As for my name - Riimuk.”

The men look at P'orihc in astonishment.

Man 1: "Our entire business is on that caravan! If we lose that we're as good as broke!"

"Mmm... nice to meet you, Riimuk. Maybe the resurgence of runic/vocal magic has some connection to the magic that began trapping souls into sufficiently advanced constructs, which was what created Lucida, and others like it.

That's a mystery for another time, though. Shall we relocate to somewhere a bit safer? Wouldn't want an assassin to throw us a surprise party in the middle of our conversation."

> Follow Riimuk, and ask him my next question on the way, or if he says we should remain where we are.

"Was associating with bandits really the best idea, though? I doubt they offer the best protection, even if as a a cover for your identity."
