Rosa and Eigla decide to go on a short tree-chopping expedition. Choosing a small pine on the edge of the forest, they grab a pair of adzes and start going at it.

Using their undead strength, they manage to get the tree down in just about fifteen minutes, despite the bluntness of their tools. Another half hour is spent dragging it back to camp, and a few more minutes to de-limb it.

Not bad at all, considering what you had to work with!

Meanwhile, Peggy scratches her head.

Peggy: "Uh, no? I looted the flak gun off a Gun City patrol, no idea how I'd put it back together. Plus, I left it back at the basement. I could probably make another crossbow, though. It'd take some metal and a reasonably strong rope."

Peggy: "Uuuuh... I guess? I don't have very strong arms, though, so it might not be really powerful or anything. Hand me a shiv and some leather strips, and I could *maybe* make one from a piece of firewood."

Peggy: "I wouldn't even think twice. Hell, if they hadn't cut my head off...

But, you're just saying that. It's not like it'll actually happen."

There is a long pause.

Peggy: "...Why are you being so nice to me? I, I don't get it. I only was honest to try and not get killed again. Like, I would cry and humiliate myself for that.
And here you are, giving me food and shelter, offering to find me a body, in exchange for what? Getting to talk to me? It doesn't make sense! I, maybe I can be a bit useful, but you didn't even take my flesh! W-what the hell do you want from me, anyways? Are you trying t-to lull me into a false sense of security so you might betray and torture me later?!"

Peggy, who'd taken cover behind Klimt's legs as Eigla showed up, slowly looks up at his face, clutching his kilt.

Peggy: "...Promise?"

Peggy holds Klimt's hand back with no less than five of her own, resting her head against his arm, eyes closed.

Peggy: "...Okay. I trust you."


Looking up, you realise the sun is in the middle of the sky, marking mid-day. Rosa and Eigla return from their woodcutting venture, having felled and cleaned no less than five trees.
