John looks up directions to the nearest gun store on his UNADA and finds that there is a fairly large three-story mercenary outfitter shop practically across the street, touting a large selection of all kinds of man-portable weapons, various armors, and general field equipment. He walks out of the bar, passing a strange reptilian alien as he does, and within a few minutes finds himself striding through the front door of the first floor of Mell & Yort's One-Stop Adventurer Shop. The shop is arranged in a circular layout, with a kiosk in the center containing employees, and display cases showing models of the hottest in-stock weapons, armors, accessories, and more. About a dozen customers are milling around and looking at the various displays. There are several elevators at the end of the room furthest from John which go up to the second floor, a shooting range, and the third floor, the storage space where all of the commodities are stocked. John approaches the kiosk and is greeted by the nearest employee, a rather cute human girl who says, "Welcome to Mell & Yort's! How can I help you find your desired instrument of death?" "Well uh, first thing's first, I was actually interested in selling two pieces that I have." "Oh, I see. You'll want to go up to the third floor and have them appraised by our gunsmith, Ro'kri. He's a big Taro, can't miss him." "Gotcha. Thanks." One short elevator ride later, John finds himself on the third floor of the shop. There's not much room available to customers here, only a small space perhaps thirty feet in width and fifteen in length, bordered by the elevators and walls and a wide employee counter. Behind the counter are a bored-looking male human tapping away at a computer and what John can only assume to be Ro'kri the Taro, reading a book. He's shaped like a human, roughly seven feet tall, and looks like he's at least 350 pounds of pure lithe power. His skin is a dark navy blue with black spots and he doesn't have any visible hair. His eyelids are a little wider than the average human's and also a little squinted, exaggerating the oval shape. The eyes themselves are remarkably human, with a white sclera, an orange iris, and a black slit of a pupil. He doesn't really have a nose, just nasal slits, and his mouth is rather low-set, with visibly hinged jaws like some jungle predator. Interesting. Never seen a Taro before. Without staring or drawing rude attention to himself, John steps over and says, "Excuse me, Mr. Ro'kri? I had a few guns I was looking to sell and I was told to come show them to you." Ro'kri looks up as soon as John speaks and then sets the book down. "Very well. Let's see them." His voice is deep, booming, and sonorous, but there isn't any discernible accent on his English- it's remarkably crisp and clear. "Well, this first one is my old rifle, a Barret TK101. It's a high-power anti-material rifle but it's designed to be agile and easy to use in short or medium range engagements." John sets the gun down on the counter and Ro'kri pulls up a stool, sits down, and starts to inspect it, making comments out loud as he does. "Barrel's clean. Trigger's responsive. Magazine slides smoothly. Scope's in good shape. I'll have to test fire it first, but I could probably give you 500 credits for this piece." "Okay, how about this one?" John asks as he sets down his Quasi repeater. Ro'kri picks it up and turns it over and over in the air as he looks closely at it. It still looks quite nice and, judging from the feel, it seems to be as durable as it claims. Put together a detachment of hexapod micro drones and have them scamper through every single deck of the Phlegethon, sweeping it for artifacts and resources. Vent a few out of an airlock onto the outer hull, and check the exterior for abnormalities.
