I went with a prisoners style on this. Back story is in the works, but is basically that the prisoners have escaped and need a place to lie low for awhile. Red item on the side is a toolbox. He has tattered clothes.

I need alot of CC on this, particularly on info about limbs, and how to get that facing style look you guys have.

Firstly either make his legs shorter or the rest of his body longer, they are too long.
Secondly, try a bit of shading to add definition. It is hard to tell different parts of the body apart because they are all the same colour.
Thirdly, move the left limbs right and the right limbs left, so that his body seems to have turned to face the right instead of looking at us head on. To make it easier to tell the arm from the body when it is over the top, make it a lighter colour than his shirt.
There are more things but we should probably do this a little bit at a time ;)

I'm meaning your armies on PW. Or maybe I'm getting you confused with all the other awesome people.

@Ocia, I think just expand on what you have. Make the legs longer, the body a bit bigger, and suddenly you've got another 5px! Maybe even use the current body as the head and sprite a new body.

I've done the first and third parts, and it looks much better, but I cant get a good kind of shading to work. I tried the bevel kind, no luck there, and the 3 colours, and that looked horrible.

Maybe I am just bad at using the palette. :-( But I'm still trying.

EDIT : Here is my current attempt.

Ive gotten rid of whats left of the sleeves, so its easier to tell the arms from the torso, I also tried the most simplest form of shading.

Oh, hell no! You just wrecked the damn oil lines! If we have to cut that, it'll pollute the water or something!

The Moon-shroom grows some kind of face and absorbs some of the oil and inserts one tendril on the dirt just in front of it.

CENTRAL: Mining rover deployed, air-drop near target.

TROOP: Anomalous material seems to be converting piping into similar organic lattice structure; temporary fix initiated. Lines cut.

It'd be much appreciated if someone better than I (read: everybody here) could add in some water pollution around where the line was cut, because I tried and believe me, it was NOT pretty, so I just left it out.
