Eigla loudly slams her coffin shut. Mary stops walking, but doesn't look back.
Mary: "Sorry dear. There are some things I just won't compromise on. I'm sure you'll make good use of that radiohead."
Peggy: "WAIT!"
Everyone pauses to look at the girl, who's pulled the poncho down, exposing her head.
Peggy: "I-I'LL STAY! I-I-I-IF SOMEONE MESSES UP, I'LL STAY WITH YOU. I'LL BE YOURS. I'LL STAY!"
Mary turns back and smiles darkly.
Mary: "Why, dear. Seems like my proposition was not so unreasonable, after all~"
Peggy clutches at Klimt's leg, shaking and crying.
Peggy: "S-see? I'm useful. I'M USEFUL!"
The short girl falls down, vomiting. Goodness, she IS stressed out.

Re: Nechronica
>Help that girl! Make sure she doesn't aspirate any of her vomit, make an honest-to-God effort to make sure she doesn't sink deeper into a heightened stress meltdown.
>Whisper into her ear.
"That was brave."

"Sorry Mary, but we won't stay. Not if the condition is to offer up someone as sacrifice. Especially if someone were to engineer trouble that would justify you taking her. I won't allow that. Thank you for the tea." > One last conversation check I suppose. Then we leave.

Sling my coffin into its usual position on my back.

Klimt helps Peggy up, as the girl shivers and drools, gagging as the gastric juices burn her throat. He whispers into her ear.
Klimt: "That was brave."
Klimt feels a sense of deeper attachment with Peggy. He gains her as a Fetter!
Rosa shakes her head.
Rosa: "Sorry Mary, but we won't stay. Not if the condition is to offer up someone as sacrifice. Especially if someone were to engineer trouble that would justify you taking her. I won't allow that. Thank you for the tea."
Mary starts shrugging, then looks away for a moment. She bites her lip and sighs.
Mary: "You know... It's been a long, long time since I last saw people stand up for one another like that. This... This goes against my better judgement.
You can stay, if you want. I'll take the empty doll, and no more. But the little thief will be sleep outside. Is that enough?"

Rosa sits on the grass, watching Mary tend to her sheep. Eigla lies down right beside her, resting her head on her beloved Sword's lap.
Klimt lies down, taking a well-deserved nap. Peggy and Emilia sit a short distance away, the first still sniffling, the second with her usual neutral expression.
You are, at least for that short afternoon, able to forget the dreadful state of the world and rest. You're not sure if it'll last, but... It is a good feeling. You will hold it dearly in your hearts.
Everyone loses a point of Madness!

FRAGMENT OF MEMORY: WAR ________________
You fought. You're not sure for how long. With a sword in place of your left arm, and a machinegun attached to your right, you cut through the hordes of undead.
You were good at what you did. All of your kin were. You knew some of them, from, before. You were praised for you sacrifice, sometimes. Without you, there would have been no hope.
You enjoyed being praised. You enjoyed helping. You helped Father, once. A zombie was biting at him, but you cut its head off. You felt happy for Father. Father did not seem happy, though.
You did not understand. Some things were simpler. Others seemed much more complicated. The voice told you where to go, who to shoot. The numbers in your eyes told you how far away you were, how many bullets you had left.
They did not tell you what to do when people looked away when you came close. Nor what to do when it was night but you didn't sleep anymore, or how to talk when your mouth was sewn shut.
You had to leave one day. You were confused. Were you not doing enough? First you left the stadium, then the city. Then, other places you did not know. You kept leaving, going back. There were always less of you around.
One day, you were fighting, but you lost. It hurt. You tried to shoot, but your gun was empty. You tried to stab, but your arm wasn't there. They had won.
The short one wanted to kill you. She said you were dangerous. She looked angry.
The tall one with the guns said no. She said you were useful. You liked being useful.
The short one sighed, then said okay. Then she put her foot over your head, then stomped.
It hurt.

As Klimt awakens from his dream, the sun is starting to set. Mary gathers her sheep, and leads the party across the fields to her house.
It takes almost an hour, but you arrive. Mary seems to live in a crashed truck, stuck through the wall of a partly-collapsed brick building. Tarps are strung across improvised rafters to make the livestock enclosure reasonably watertight, while a low fieldstone wall keeps a small garden safe from browsing sheep.
As you approach, you notice a decayed human skull, stuck on a pole by the fence. It groans as you approach, watching you through empty orbits. Mary casually walks up to it and gives it a slap.
Mary: "Quit staring at the guests! They're not crows, you bumbling idiot. Sigh."
She turns back to shrug at you apologetically.
Mary: "Well, I did say I needed a new scarecrow. This one's barely useful anymore. Well, come on in! Let me get a fire started. You can leave the thief over there."
She detaches the cart from her ram, placing it in a small alcove to protect it from the rain, then rides inside the truck's cargo container. Looking at where she pointed, you see a rusty chain attached to a wall, with an improvised leather collar on its end.
