Re: FG Lounge
On vacation for two weeks. Might not be able to roll, I might not have an internet connection. If I don't post, assume I don't have one.

Re: FG Lounge
My RtD plan is on the back burner for now, since I've broken my old keyboard and am now using a backup that shuts down if it's rotated to any angle that is even remotely comfortable. To put icing on the cake, I'm also working on a book.

Re: FG Lounge
You write, caek? That's cool. I've been writing a fanfiction (though I don't want to call it that because of the implications of the word) based on the roguelike Cataclysm. That's actually one of the reasons my RtD plans haven't progressed a ton. The other reasons are because I was gone a whole week and then I just started getting lazy. But hey, what else is new. At least I've made some progress. I've also decided to go all-out tile-based on my RtD, but only enforce a movement system in combat situations.
Anyway, what are you writing about, if you don't mind me asking?

When you start rolling frequently enough, you get roll addiction, and then feel the effects of withdrawal if you don't roll often enough.

Mars is colonized and has around a billion or so people living on it now, with scientific academies on Phobos and Deimos, and are at war with the Earth Coalition for independence, like Luna attempted in 2059. Various asteroids have been claimed by private corporations, such as the Bästastålet Smelting Group, a large metal conglomerate headquartered in Sweden. The protagonist is Daniel, captain of the ECS Valiant, a small frigate patrolling the back water trade lanes, when they stumble upon a discovery that could forever alter human history. I've got like six or seven chapters finished, and unlike last time, backed up on SkyDrive.

I've got like six or seven chapters finished, and unlike last time, backed up on SkyDrive. You've summed it up very well. That sounds like something I might actually read. Though fantasy will always be my preference, I've read some sci-fi, and am not at all opposed to it. I like the interplanetary war for independence, too. That makes an epic mental picture in my mind. If you're serious, I want to get addicted. It sounds like a good problem to have.

I've actually got some ideas for a fantasy book, too. In it, an immortal warrior, cursed by the gods to wander the world for all eternity, is called up to fight against an army of undead, laying waste to the very kingdom he saved once before and swore to protect so long ago when he battled to save the world from the Great Devourer Amgarak, but he was left to die upon the battlefield, forsaken and forgotten by the people he saved. Forsaking his oath of loyalty to the king, the gods cursed him to forever walk the earth as an immortal. Unable to age, and unable to be slain, he has watched the realm expand and change, undergo plagues and seen everyone he has ever loved or cared about be swept under the march of history. So far, that book is nothing more than ideas in my mind, but after my sci-fi is done, it'll have it's time.

I'd love to read some of your writings sometime. I can't help but feel that as soon as I compare my work to another budding writer's, I'll realize just how inept I am... which is a good thing! I want to get better at every aspect of storytelling.

I learned how to write from my RtDs, to be honest. I test out writing ideas in them as well as tuning my writing style. So far, it's done pretty well :p People who think they can't write are in for a surprise. Anyone can write an interesting story, you just need practice and you need to start small. RtDs are perfect for this, since each roll is basically practice, and they are pretty small, yet big enough for you to actually benefit from doing them. Not only that, but you cover a ton of aspects of writing. You make locations, characters in the form of NPCs, gods and magical powers, gadgets and a hell of a lot more. Running Magitech and Rebellion, if only for a short while on either of them were effectively revolutions in my writing quality.

Until you realize that you're nagging people to action the same day you finish rolling.Edit: HK's in Cananadididida, btw, for about a week.

Had a ideas lately; Battletech: Kahreen Riots Players take the role of a member of a tactical council dispatched with a small army to quell a rebellion on a distant world. Intelligence officers, Air-Pilots, Mecha-pilots and tank drivers must work together to calm the fire on the icy planet while searching for who is supplying the rebels. and to what end?
Eden Corrupt. (Cyberpunk) in the past two months there have been 16 viral attacks on data nodes throughout the city causing havok amongst the populace as the Cyber security teams are unable to trace or even locate the seemingly random attacks which have resulted in the death of 21 people and the serious injury of several more. The players take on the roll of skilled citizens from many walks of life who have discovered themselves working in concert, over a very large secret, Will they be able to halt the viral attacks before they reach their goal?
Return to the Tarskan Several years ago contact was lost with the sleeper ship the UNN Tarskan while it was on a mission beyond pluto operating as a deepspace listening outpost, it is unknown what happend however the ship disappeared into the oort cloud and out of our sensors. The ship has returned, crashing into the surface of pluto close to our colony out there what images we have of the crash show the ship with its engines intact but seeming stuck halfway in the emergency eject mode still firing as it plumets towards the ground. Your team has won the bid to perform the search, rescue, salvage and recovery of the ship and its crew.

Re: FG Lounge
I assume that's what that mystery thread was last night?
I'd like to see some forum games approach completion before new ones are started, personally.

I think it'd be best if instead of having lots of RtDs, we have less of them, but more that'll actually be finished.
