You fling a small spear of fire from Firebrand to one of the bodies on the ground deeper into the tunnel. You're rewarded with the sound of crackling, crisping meat, but nothing really happens.

Then, Cihas dashes to the front of the group and heads into the dark tunnel alone.

Hakua: "That one is eager to die."

Kyros slowly makes his way forward into the tunnel with the other bat creatures close behind him. After there's enough space, the Black Dragon shuffles its way through with you still on its back and slowly lowers the gate. You can hear the sound of metal and bone and flesh crunching as the gate closes on top of a corpse on the ground.

Gustaf: "What the hell... can't even tell if they're dead or not. Guess I'll have to check."

Gustaf, from his awkward position on the dragon who's still holding the gate open, launches a small stream of fire at one of the corpses in the tunnel. The sound of crisping, crackling meat is heard, but nothing really happens.

The other human, who didn't introduce himself, heads forward into the dark tunnel, leaving everyone else behind.

Hakua: "That one is eager to die."

Readying your weapon, you take slow cautious steps forward, eyeing every body on the ground as you make sure not to touch them. After about 10 feet in, every one else makes it past the gate except Gustaf and the Dragon. The Dragon shuffles itself past the gate while still holding it open, before slowly lowering the metal barrier to the ground. It hits the body that fell, and makes a nasty crunching sound of metal and bone and flesh as it completely closes.

Your sensitive ears pick up another sound, like a body hitting the ground ahead, and the sound of someone whispering.

> Using Echo Helm, you find that the tunnel is roughly square, about 8 feet tall and 8 feet wide. There's a left and right turn as well as a straight tunnel not too far, and past that you can "see" Cihas running back from the straight tunnel. As he passes the intersection, he trips over a corpse, and something sort of the size and shape of a bat creature walks up behind him and stops.

"W-who's there? Where are you? I can hear you. Where are you?"

Kyros leads the group forward, and the other bat-creatures follow while the Black Dragon follows them with you behind. You see Kyros bring the light over Cihas, and then freezes when it reveals the chirop you detected.

The creature's wings have been stripped of the fleshy membrane that connects the fingerbones, and the bones themselves have mutated into large, 2-feet long claws. No one moves.

Then, you hear another whisper in the tunnel ahead.

"W-who's there? Where are you? I can hear you. Where are you?"

You hear some one ahead running towards you and falling(?). Slowly moving forward with Hakua at your back, your light reveals the human from earlier who didn't introduce himself. You take another step forward to help him, when the the light from your kinetic sphere reveals a chirop standing right behind him.

Immediately freezing in place, you see that it's another Marauder. However, she doesn't have a sword in hand. Instead, the finger-bones in her wings have been liberated from their fleshy membranes and have grown into thick, monstrous claws 2 feet long.

Nothing moves.

Head to the center of the room to get a better idea of what the object/thing is.
