You draw Swordbro, letting it rest at your side for a moment.
"Go ♥♥♥♥ yourself."
And with that, you whip your sword forward and across, summoning up a Moonlight Splinter as you do. The attack slips off your blade at just the right time, and zooms forward into the surprised ferret before it can react. It carves a deep red line into both its front legs, and immediately after, the animal leaps backwards, taking to the air.
You're aware of the rest of the crew shouting and moving behind you, but your attention is focused elsewhere at the moment, such as at the magic circle forming at the snout of the ferret. Suddenly, a foot-wide ball of yellow-white light appears in front of the ferret's snout, and a split second later, it turns into a very loud, very fast beam of light, passing right into your sword arm. And the deck. And the rest of the ship.

You see Grif go for his gun, and without thinking, throw yourself at him.
Yourself is an object, right?
You end up pinning him to the deck, while he yells at you to get off.

You quickly duck into the stairwell leading down to the interior of the ship, before anything can shoot you. A bit late to behave rationally and just ASK the ferret things though.
Damn hotheads.

"I knew it, I just knew it would come to this."
You quickly run through the ship weapons in your head, but while that thing is on the deck, and not away from the ship, you don't have anything that can hit it. Luckily, Troy solves that problem by chasing it off the deck, and then getting shot. You run downstairs to the forward harpoon cannon that was used against the giant octopus, but the ferret is too high to aim at.

"Goddamn it people. This is why you wait for the facts before rash decisions. There's an entirely separate plane of existence above us, one that clearly has a separate set of laws governing it, but because she's cuter than the winged ferret, she must be OK. HE SAID HE WAS IN A JUDICIAL ROLE. SHE MIGHT HAVE DONE SOMETHING WRONG.

You take a deep breath after your little rant. Thankfully, the Ferret hasn't attacked you. Or anyone besides Troy, actually. You think about the opponent for a moment.
It's a giant ferret with wings. It's definitely not a big dangerous predator, and wings are pretty much NEVER sturdy, so physically it's probably not too tough. But it definitely knows some strong magic, and if it emits enough magic passively that it can't touch the girl, it probably has stronger up its sleeves.

Game Events: Sera screams and runs back belowdecks as everything comes to a head, along with Charlotte and Sedraxis. The Ferret backs off from the ship a bit, but stays high in the sky out of reach, moving back and forth.
