Re: FG Lounge
I've already drawn more than half of my world. By hand. Now I need to turn it into one gigantic area map and smaller, fine-tuned maps where players can actually see what's going on in the immediate vicinity.
That will likely be a while. But it must be done... for the good of all players.
Ooh, I have another question for you guys: Would any of you ever consider hiding player statuses from each other using spoilers and stuff, so they can only see what is happening through their character's eyes? Do you think it's worth the trouble to do that in order to make a more immersive experience? Why or why not?

Re: FG Lounge
I encourage players to read each other's rolls due to the sheer levels of plot I dispense on a regular basis, but also use spoilers purely for reasons of organization.

Re: FG Lounge
Will do.
Also, for the love of the dice gods, don't use MSPaint. Download Paint.NET and use that instead. So much better.

Re: FG Lounge
I've made my entire ship in MSPaint so far. I'm going to continue using it.

Re: FG Lounge
You can just open the .png or whatever in Paint.NET.
Use it. After you learn to (which doesn't take long) it is fantastic.

Re: FG Lounge
Wow. I'm getting faster at this. Done most of deck three in under an hour. Deck four will be the final deck, containing everything needed for the ships functions. Now added on this deck is the medbay, underneath the cockpit, the anomaly lab and the storage room, which contains the ships spare parts. Including the crate containing the ships spare nuclear fuel rods. The crate is so big it has to be taken in in pieces, then the primary fuel rod container comes in. The primary container is stored inside the secondary, which keeps them safe from any knocks in battle. The main reactor has a similar setup. The anomaly lab will be part of the science officer's main purpose where they can reverse engineer new tech. Afterwhich, the chief engineer can construct the reverse engineered designs in the ship's workshop. The medbay also has a lab station, where the medical officer can create new substances for the benefit of the crew. The empty room is where the ship's drones will go. Assuming the players choose to get them, anyway. I also need to add the atmospheric piping for this deck.

Re: FG Lounge
I've done some thinking. The current player ship will be the first one in the game and replaced after two or three missions by the main ship which I'll be designing soon. It'll look similar, but a lot bigger. I plan on the next one being either two or three decks, with some bits on sub decks.

Oh man can I reserve a spot because deck plans are neat and any game involving multiple ones are also neat. Also you should still make rough sketches of how they look outside. That way players can customize them, like add racing stripes or pinup girls on the spaceships.

If for some reason I actually join something this tactical, I'm making a penis ship.

Man, this makes me wish I had a damn pen tablet or something so I can sketch it properly. TorrentHKU wrote: If for some reason I actually join something this tactical, I'm making a penis ship. Something shaped sort of like this? Since that's the basic shape of the next player vessel. I've chosen that shape for two very good reasons. Its long, so I can stuff the engines on the first deck along with the bridge, this time putting the bridge in the center of the ship and putting some weapons close to the front of the ship. I could also put two large turrets on the top of the hull which the players can customize. Hell, they could scrap both turrets and make the ship have a spinal mounted weapon if they want. Nighthawk wrote: Make it fire a giant laser, and put the power generators in the back.... heh heh heh. If you spinally mount a big enough laser, you can have that happen. Except upsizing small weapons to be spinal weapons instead of using a weapon that was designed to be spinally mounted, well, things might go bad. I've actually got ideas for spinally mounted weapons, though. A single one of those things is bigger than the first player ship. I'll be posting the final version of the first player ship soon. EDIT : And here is a step towards the final version of the first player ship. The fourth deck is the engineering deck. The reactor is in, the two big rooms on the right side of the fourth deck are gonna be the engine rooms. I've placed the O2 tank in and finished piping deck three.
