Re: Roll To Dodge: Ethersphere (Roll 53 - Q&A)
"I was a normal human until I became what I am now. Beings like me are... hard to describe. In essence, we're humans, but with extreme ether control. It's what lets us be basically immortal- no sickness or aging- unless we're killed. Despite that neat effect of my uh, "state," we don't necessarily have conscious control over this. That's an entirely different story, though. As to your second question, yes, there are plenty of beings like me, and the Ethersphere is also filled with other types of beings that don't originate from our physical universe."

Are you going to ask me to do something after this, or can I go on my merry way being a mercenary?

I'm from Earth, but I'm about 100 years old and didn't do a single damn important thing while I was still a regular old Joe, so I doubt you've ever heard of me."Tomaster wrote: "Are you going to ask me to do something after this, or can I go on my merry way being a mercenary?" "To do something...? Uh. No, wasn't planning on it. I told you guys what I did out of courtesy, not 'cause I'm trying to rally up support. You can do whatever you want."

"So if you and that Absalom guy are crazy powerful ether users, why would you bother with getting a couple of 'cut-rate mercs' like us involved in your little fight?"

Re: Roll To Dodge: Ethersphere (Roll 53 - Q&A)
"Like I said, I'm not exactly at my full strength right now. That's a big understatement. On the way here, I killed somebody about twice as strong as Absalom is now, and Absalom was barely above human level before he came here to finish his little experiment, so I didn't think I'd need to rest up. I don't know why you're all here to start with, and I probably could've won that fight without support, but why take that risk? Etherbeings can be unpredictable."

Hey I'm going on a road trip for like two weeks and I won't be online, so skip me if I come up.

No problem, there will be a small hiatus after the next roll and some new players joining, so I can just have your character be sitting out somewhere until you come back

Re: Roll To Dodge: Ethersphere (Roll 53 - Q&A)
"Well... there's a lot to it. Not everybody can gain this kind of power- you have to have a certain kind of predisposition, I guess. You can call it fate or destiny or whatever, but there's nothing you can do to change whether or not you're viable. Having this power seems to be the result of a kind of symbiosis with... well, with ether itself. A relationship almost. The ether picks and chooses who it's willing to give this power, and then people like me- stronger than me, though- are like a medium for that transfer of power. A lot of us, especially the humans, still don't quite understand how and sure as hell don't know why it's like this, so don't ask.
"Now, I saw in that battle that you already have a good grasp on ether attacks yourself. That makes you a very likely candidate for this level of power. People who find use of ether abilities natural are more often than not viable for this relation. A lot more goes into choosing who gets it, but I can tell you you at least passed step one."

Do I get some sort of reward for helping you out?

If you're sentient, you're considered a 'person;' as for whether or not you're viable for ether symbiosis, I can't tell you."Tomaster wrote: Do I get some sort of reward for helping you out? "Do you mean for what you did in that fight just now? Like I said, I appreciate the help in the fight, but it wasn't really necessary. I can't exactly reward you anyways- money is of no use to me and I don't have any valuables."
