This'll close the distance between me and him, possibly do some damage, and if he counters then the combined Hammerplate and Bluebell should keep me safe.

You and the others start to descend the mountain quickly. After you hit the midway point, a white figure about your size startles you and the group and everyone dives behind a rock, tree, or bush.

"Whoa! What's that!?"

You peak from behind your boulder and see a white-fured, bipedal wolf. It looks directly at you.

"How strange it is, that a brother of mine, must walk among the violent swine. Have you lost your mind or way? Roamed the pine and fell astray?"

The archer peaks from behind a tree with an arrow nocked on his bow string while the thief holds onto a dagger while crouching by a bush.

(Whisper)
"It's one of your kind!"

"I tell you now, words from old: The hostility 'round'll freeze you cold. Hunting's where you must return, or by Caelum's fire you'll burn!"

The white wolf dashes away and vanishes.

"Was that the thing that was following us earlier?"

"Uh, okay. Okay recruits! You all got an assignment already!"

A crowd of recruits come to Charles and you join them.

"You all haven't finished battlefield training yet.. Well, some of you haven't even STARTED, but that's not the point. Point is, you all get to reinforce Hermit City and do guard duty. It'll be a milk run."

One of the recruits raises his hands.

"Yes?"
"Who's our commander?"
"Good question."

Charles turns to the man with the scroll.

"Well?"
"Uh, he didn't say."
"Any free commanders?"
"There's Bern. I think he's it."
"Well, go get 'em!"
"Yes sir!"

The man runs off into the camp.

"So, recruits. Let's hope those guys up at Hermit teach you some tactical stuff, because you might not get any more training for some time."
