Even from your high vantage point and checking various angles, you don’t see anything new. The wreck is sitting right at the edge of town, but you think you can make out the scene where it occurred, a blackish mark on the landscape a fair distance to the north.

While John, Ki’stha, Wolf, and Kleigg head North on the road leaving town towards the scene of the incident, you push yourself through the crowd and ask the white mage what happened, and if he needs help. By now he’s able to stand on his own, but it looks like it’ll be a while until he’s back in prime condition.

White Mage: ”We left Vranhal with six of us, or so I remember. The trip here was uneventful. We got here and had the fight with you and your friends, and when we headed back to Vranhal, we were attacked on the road.
I couldn’t see where the fire was coming from, even if I’m sure the thing was standing still long enough to notice. Except, when it was throwing a flare up. I did my best to clear my head, and I tried counting how many people I saw. I counted to seven.”


Seemingly invisible. You don’t remember them, but they unconsciously register if you attempt to count as with the white mage, or if they’re a threat in combat as with the swordsmen.

Not invisibility, but erasing your presence in the minds of others.

Telepathic cloaking, that must be it.

"Sounds like a very skilled mage infiltrated your group. I understand that you guys were "witch hunting" or something of the like and there's probably people trying to retaliate, but should we fear something bigger? A resistance? A war all over again? The rest of the guys went looking for what happened over there and I need to know how big the danger they might face will be."
