"I'm gonna check on the APC before we set out, I've been ramming things left, right and centre with that thing." Check on the APC to make sure it's still functional after all the ramming, then hop into the driver seat.

"Sadly, you're right on that. But I can't man the gun and drive at the same time. And ramming works pretty damn well too."

"Jones, I don't know how to say this, but I think your going to have to hand over this bucket of bolts to the others, I don't think we're going to be able to get it into the transit tunnels." >Try to trade APC for some CQC equipment with the other squads. Then make sure I have enough charge on my flash light to last a horror movie before leading the others to the 'bound to be alien infested' transit system.

"Of course, we get to do the dirty work.. Grif, what was it he said about FTL signatures? That worries me a bit."
While chuckling, follow Cpl Mason. You're intrigued about this CQC gear. While following, glance around for discarded drone weapons, especially those of an energy-based nature.
"What exactly might one expect to be in one of these CQC packages?"

Androids are not shoddily assembled, and those that enlist for military service are usually kept in top form or even upgraded. An android that gives the location of his squad away to anyone nearby simply by moving poses a threat to all of his squadmates.
Admittedly I probably should've chosen my words better, but for casual listeners it's hard to tell the difference between the footsteps of a military android and a normal soldier.
Saber, Fang, Sword, and Spartan Squads - In The City
The APC is functional, but pretty banged up. Of course, that's not the worst part... the worst part is the autocannon turret is almost entirely out of ammo now.
As for trade-ins, Fang and Sword didn't have much when they got here - neither did the Spartans. Sword and the Spartans are as equally disinclined towards trade-ins as Fang were, since you all decided to bring T7s and LMGs... not like you can use the weapons the Spartans have anyway. Great squad planning, huh? Hey, at least your helmets and guns have integral flashlights with plenty of run time.
There are too many for the APC, so the other squads opt to leave it where it is for now. It's not much use with the depleted ammo reserves anyway.
Georgii spots nothing that looks like energy weapons amongst the armaments of the fallen robots. The colony bots were mostly using civilian Autopistols... lower caliber, but higher capacity. Not nearly as effective per-hit as the Marine Pistols you all have, and much worse range too.
The other attackers - the black-carapaced 'leaders' - appear to have been using a mix of weapons - one has an LMG equivalent (judging by the overall design) but the ammo is incompatible with the K77A, and there's not much of it left either. The weapons of the others have been mangled beyond recognition by HE grenades, or are simply nowhere to be found.
Farewells and goodbyes and goodlucks are given, then the squads split up.
Walking to the subway entrance is short and refreshing, the sun is starting to sink towards the horizon... the time on your HUD suggests it's been a good two or three hours since you made that somewhat bumpy planetfall.
The entrance itself is hard to miss what with the big 'TARIS RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM' (a cursory search of the local colonynet suggests the locals have taken to calling it the 'TARTS', much to the colonial authority's annoyance), and it beckons, bright lights shining from within.
Just before you descend, there's the unmistakeable *ping* of an incoming voice connection. It's Intel.
Intel » "Before you boys go getting too stuck in there, I feel I should remind you that if you go too far underground, the uplink is going to degrade pretty quickly due to all the cables and concrete and whatnot. Stick to the Level A tunnels and it should be fine. My last trace suggested that Lance and Coyote squads were together in the central depot, but that was before the commsat went up and I'm not picking up their tacnets at all. Either they got wrecked hard enough that their suit transponders are toast, or these tunnels go deeper than we thought. I'm hoping it's the latter, because I've seen those suit transponders survive the wrong end of a vehicle-mounted plasma cannon. Deeper tunnels wouldn't be good either."
"Oh, and the trains aren't operating at the moment. As far as I can tell the main power lines were... shut off by some kind of... focused... EMP attack? Our first-landers really did a number on the infrastructure, although I still haven't figured out what they did to the colony defense systems since our gunships have been able to come and go well within the same area we got wrecked in."
"Where was I... right, the rails. Yes. They need to be powered back up from the central depot... which would be quite helpful to us, I think, at least if we want to control Taris properly, since Command is calling the area a no-dropship zone until those flak guns are 100% ours. Anyway, you can wander around on the tracks all you like is what I'm getting at. Have fun!"

"To the central depot we go. $50 say that Lance and Coyote were chased deeper into the tunnels, THEN torn to shreds by... huh, I think my radar just blip-ed, nah couldn't be, even those bug critters can't move that fast..." >Mess with the psychological state of the squad, prepare them for the horrors to come.

"This reminds me of the lighting failures we'd have back home on the Gernsback. Throw in some mice and you have a paranoid as ♥♥♥♥ crew." Keep a look out, move with the squad.
