You head back towards the docks, having had enough of the town for now. You see a small flock of crewmates gathered by your dock as you approach, and get a bad feeling in your gut. As you approach, Rob walks up to you and speaks quietly.
"Be careful, I don't like whatever he's up to."
You nod, and proceed forward. The others move to the side, letting you through to O'Neil.
"Aye, ye be the captain."
"What's going on?"
"I, ah, got a few words for ye son. It's... very important. Ye might want to bring yer Engineer. Or not, yer choice."
"Is this good news or bad news?"
"...That's a mighty fine question, laddy."
He walks to the end of the dock, far away from anyone else who can hear. Looks like he's waiting for you.

You see Troy approach from his business at the shops, and move forward to speak to him before he can get to O'Neil.
"Be careful, I don't like whatever he's up to."
He gives you a brief look and nods, then walks over to O'Neil. They trade a few words, and O'Neil walks to the end of the dock a good 100 feet away. One of the dockhands stays there to make sure nobody who isn't allowed to passes.

"Erm, no, buying a "portion" of an Artifact is out of the question. I've no idea what splitting one would do, and in some of their cases it's impossible, like with the rock."
He looks at you for a moment quizzically.
"Do you really... know what Artifacts are?"
"Aren't they just objects with strong magic?"
"I see... Well, that is technically true. Artifacts are anything exposed to the huge magical powers of the Abyss that lies below the Sky. Sometimes, massive magical storms send things up or rarely, raise new islands up. The magic down there is astoundingly powerful, it puts anything up here to shame a thousand times over. Any objects that get charged with that kind of magic, well, they're unimaginably powerful and very unpredictable.
That's what we call an Artifact. They're rare, powerful, and very valuable. Also frequently they are useless items. I remember rumors of an Artifact sword that could literally cut through anything. If such an object actually existed, it would sell for a king's ransom.
So, no, the prices cannot budge on these. I am very sorry..."

She turns around to face you. You notice a slight shine on one cheek.
"I... I don't know, I guess I don't really have anything like that. But really, this was just-"
She notices the wetness on her cheek.
"Oh my god, are you serious, I cried?!"
She gives a nervous laugh and falls into a chair behind her, holding her forehead with one hand, a strained expression on her face.
*sigh*
"I'm really sorry, I don't know what's wrong with me today. Lots of old memories I guess.
But really, you can leave, I'm fine with it. Just don't be a stranger, eh? You were pretty fun, it'd be a shame if that went away."
"...Alright."
"Hey. If you really want a token, you've got a pretty nice one strapped to your back, eh?"
She's got a good point there. The two of you walk downstairs, and she opens the store back up, letting you leave. You give her a wave on your way out, then head back to the docks, where a number of the crew is already waiting.
Hmm. Your drunkenness may no longer be an advantage here.

"Alright, as soon as the captains done dealing with... whoever that is, we will search the ship for books that could have useful information."

"Look. There is some goddamn magical ice on the damn deck, I just need to stuff some of it in this damn bottle, not do anything else. Just let me go up there, it'll take just a damn minute."
The man narrows his eyes at you, then waves down another dockhand passing by.
"Watch these guys, they're not allowed to pass."
He then guides you over to the nearby ladder and up onto the deck before climbing up himself.
"Hurry it up."
