The message is from the, eh, fellow with the halberd, whose name I failed to ask.... But that aside, here it is: Atra has been broken, and preparations need to be made to repair it when our party recovers it and brings it back.

Peering at the south-western portion of the wall, you can vaguely make out a blue-robed figure waving.

Doing a quick dive and then swooping back up, you give yourself the air-time needed to return the wave before heading back to Venari.

You notice that the pack of Lupus your party encountered is are closer to Vranhal, hopefully the city will be able to handle itself.

Soon enough Venari pops up on the horizon, and you can make out your party at the city's northern gate as you close the distance. There also appears to be quite a bit of damage on the eastern side of the city, as if there was a localized earthquake in that area. Probably where Darla and Atra fought.

I can't actually talk to anyone if I'm to remain in character, since I'm not yet close enough for speech (still a fair distance away and in the air). And I can't establish a telepathic link myself, either, so that's also out. Gotta land first.

You throw a fireball at the door and it catches fire, crackling and burning steadily. It does a good job at clearing the blockage, but it looks like there's quite a lot of random wooden furniture and crates to go through that were sitting behind the door.

You then realize that fire may have been a bad idea. It may not be going out of control, but the fire is slowly consuming the oxygen in the room, and you start to cough and wheeze as acrid smoke fills the air.

Torrent: "There's not really much to get good at on your end. All you do is think 'water' and I do 'water.' The complicated magic stuff is handled by the weapon."

He places the glaive in your hand, and his human form inside the armor evaporates. The armor pieces float around you and attach to the correct places, suiting you up again.

All you have to do is think it and I do it. That's the point of magic weapons, to simplify magic usage. Here, I'm going to take over your mind a bit so you can 'feel' what it's like to do this.

You then feel like you lose control over your body, but you can still see, hear, smell, and feel your surroundings like normal.

> Lift a head-sized ball of water out of the river, empower it with kinetics and slam it back down.

Wait, what? Torrent is actioning for you?

A head-sized ball of water rises out of the river, and slams back down like a solid cannonball, creating a mighty splash.

A second later control of your body shifts back to you.

See? Easy.

You and the rest of the party, except for Mist and Torrent, head into the city too, stopping just inside so you can ask an armored lupus guard what happened.

???: "A human with a magic helm and greaves jumped the eastern wall and attacked Atra, the magic weapon that was aiding us in fending off corrupted. Several guards tried to stop the human, but the guards were killed quickly. Atra was broken at the blade, and the human fled."

Doesn't sound different from what Darla told you.

The lupus raises his head and sniffs the air a bit, before returning to normal and growling to himself.

???: "All you humans smell alike..."

???: "They were killed or driven away. Many of our own were corrupted themselves trying to defend the city, and an even larger number are trapped in the sewers after they blocked off corrupted from coming up.
We have not dared to approach Atra. The weapon gives off a terrible aura that makes our skin crawl. It is a wounded beast that should be left to lick its wounds."


So far, no sounds of anything exploding, so Blizzard and LucidAucupe must be doing a good job.
