Paper runes that John gave you, only Plasma Bolt ones left.

And then you have a mage stone, which has some energy stored in it.

The five of you stay low, gliding only feet above the plains below, which have corpses here and there. As you approach the walls, you "hear" someone that isn't one of you.

???: Hello? Identify yourselves.

Koa: We're remnant forces separated from the Magistar, along with an allied dragon. We came here seeking reinforcements.

???: There's a messenger here for the same purpose. I don't suppose you know each other? Well, you're free to enter. Don't mind the dragon, some crazy fellows brought 'em here and he's not bothering anyone.

Contacted the messenger, she's in the West field within the walls, by the smashed up gate.

Koa: Understood, thanks.

Your party flies to the wall's western gate, or where you think there should be a gate. A large section of the wall appears to be obliterated where a gate looks like it should be, and several humans are stationed close to it.

On the top of a small hill near the gate, you see a chirop waving, and everyone slowly flies over and lands.

???: "Hey, looks like you guys are still alive."

She looks familiar, in fact, you're pretty sure she was the raptor fighting alongside you, or at least in close proximity, in the spire back in Teleiat.

???: "So, what happened? I mean, did you find anything in the archives? Did you see what happened to the ice weapon? And what's with the dragon?"

The two of you keep going at it, and so far it seems like you're landing more hits than her. Naomi seems to be enjoying the spar despite not landing more hits, at the moment anyways.

You're not sure if you can push yourself to improve past your current abilities, at least not in a short period of time.

I don't think we'll be getting their help soon, and they'll still need a large number of guards stationed here in case whatever that thing was comes back. I think they called it the Ultima weapon?"

Ettiin: "So we can't do anything but wait?"

???: "Well, from what I heard, some fellows armed to the teeth went North of hear and crushed the corrupted there, and now they're back and getting ready to head to Venari themselves. Perhaps you could ask them?"

Koa: "Where are they?"

???: "I think the one leading them is just a bit south of here, still in the city. He had a weapon like that ice sword, can create an avatar, except his is a halberd."

Instead of trying to move out of the way, you see Naomi whirling the halberd, readying to slash.

As your spear is a foot away from your throat, Whirlwind whips across in front of you diagonally, and the front half of your spear flies off. And, you're still moving forward. Closing your eyes, you feel your body impact Naomi's armor, and the both of you tumble in the direction of your flight.

You end up landing on your back, dazed. Blinking your eyes to clear your vision, the first thing you see is the green of Naomi's eyes, and then her childish grin.

Right above your neck is Whirlwind's patterned blade, the gleaming edge lightly touching the minuscule hairs on your throat.
