I'd like it if you, caek, would post a short little game event now to seperate the rolls and to show the battle beginning. We're between rolls 3 and 4.

And so it was requested, and so shall it be done!

I'll edit this post with the beginning of the battle.

The approaching Stein army suddenly stops its advance towards the walls, the men pausing after taking a few steps forward. None of them take their eyes off the city walls, all focused on what they are about to do. One of the many carriages on the battle train is detached, followed shortly by a second carriage. They move themselves to a position on the flanks of the army, and aim diagonally at a single position on the wall. A thin cloud of smoke erupts from the carriages smokestacks. Powerful gears begin to move, opening a large gap in the ceiling of the carriage. A enormous gun, larger then those mounted in most fortresses, is elevated directly upwards on a steel platform.

The artillery fires.

A brilliant flash of light, almost blinding, erupts, with a bang as loud as thunder. A huge hole in the east wall is created in its wake, the men stationed on the wall blown clear.

Another flash follows shortly after, this time hitting the gatehouse. This explosion is bigger and most certainly louder : the boiler in the gatehouse that powered the small steam engine to lift the gate was hit.

The battle train lets out a bellowing horn, followed by a loud series of whistles. The infantry charge into the newly formed breaches, with the support of the mechanical men. One of the steel soldiers grabbed onto the wall, and elevated itself directly onto the top of the wall. One of its arms arced with electrical power. The lightning went from man to man, burning holes in the armour of the Rifles on the wall. Any infantry on the ground, fighting directly against Stein troops were forced into a vicious close range battle - slowly but steadily being forced towards the city centre, towards Castle Grey.

The battle train lets out another roar from its whistle, and starts to move forward at full steam. The armoured carriages break off, moving to support the infantry in the city streets. The carriages, each going a different path in the city, supported by a column of men and a few mechanical juggernauts, moving through the streets of the city with little resistance, each carriage heading to a different district of the city. The carriages flame thrower's are lit, unleashing incredible gouts of flame towards any group of infantry, while the machine guns mopped up any survivors.

The battle train itself however, did not move forward quietly either. Its heavily armoured shell rendered it completely immune to the gunfire that was now bouncing off it. A small cannon, a old weapon pulled out of Castle Grey's arsenal for one last battle, manned by a desperate crew in a even more desperate attempt to stop the train, succeeded in cracking part of the shell, but the battle train did not care, nothing would stop its charge towards the castle.

Towards the west, however, the armies of Olvitium waited.

The magi at the top of the Spire cast a powerful spell. A ball of white homed in on one of the mechanical juggernauts and moved through its chest, unstopped by the heavy steel armour.

A fierce arcing of electrical currents shot all around, hitting Stein troops alone, completely ignoring any Rifles or civilians still in the area. The juggernaut fell to one knee, then forward, dead. The coal generator inside its chest, beating with the power of a steam engine, was stopped completely.

Now, the Olvitiumese made their move. The titanic golem smashed a huge hole in the wall, and all their forces charged forwards at once. A hurricane of different kinds of spells created a lightshow of all the schools of magic - Fire, Frost, Lightning, all forms of magic were there, even a few healers to support their wounded Guardsmen, who fought at the front of the army, supported by demons and elementals. One of the watchmen from the Spire could see a entire squad of Rifles wiped out completely in seconds by a single Demon Of Death, while a Demon of War punched a hole through the door of a nearby watch tower, pulling a screaming Rifle directly from its innards. The Demon of War pulled him in half, throwing his torso directly at a Rifle.

The magi atop the Spire, however, were powerless to act. The spell they had used to destroy the Juggernaut had exhausted them, it would take a few more minutes before they could regain their strength enough to try and hold the Olvitium at bay, even if only for a short second.

Inside Castle Grey, Lord Robert was in the war room, watching the forces of both Stein and Olvitium advance towards the castle on the War Map, a magical and technological hybrid, a true masterpiece of mankind's skill at magic and science, showed the armies advancing in real time, towards the castle. It could be used to issue telepathic commands directly to squad leaders, or anyone who happened to be alive, for that matter.

He looked at the map, and sighed. The white lights that represented his people, both soldiers and civilians, were fading across the city fast. He pulled forth his sword, and walked out of the war room.

"So this is how it all ends." he said. A small, mechanical orb comprised of rapidly rotating metallic plates followed him out the room.
"No, Robert, this is how it begins."
"What makes you say that?"
"Lets just say, I believe this is going to be the start of something great for our people."
"How can oblivion be great for my people!?!"
"Do not be so certain, my lord."
"This will be the beginning of something wondrous."
"And if we shall perish in this battle, then let it be known that we died fighting for the peoples right to call Chermanshire home."
"That and for a good pint."
The mechanical orb laughs.
"Just like old times."
"I sure as hell hope you roll higher this time. I'm getting tired of constantly getting 5s all the time nowadays."
"You know as much as I do that us Tech Fairies have no effect on the outcome of probability, we merely... Show the outcome."
"Don't I know it. Well, enough dawdling. To battle."
"Indeed. To battle!"

And that's the beginning of the battle. Lord Robert has his own tech fairy too, as will some important plot NPCs throughout the story line.

It's great that Lord Robert knows that every outcome in his life is determined by a 10-sided die. That's very amusing.

The Bob must have discovered he is just part of a game at some point.

(Izen) Skeev: [4]
Healthy
Skeev pulls himself up the ladder rung-by-rung with ease. The ladder is attached solidly to the brickwork by huge bolts every foot or so. About half-way; 20 feet up the ladder he pauses and looks over his shoulder to the East. The wind whistles past his face and he watches the giant cloud of the Magi dissipates.

Skeev almost falls off the ladder when he sees what was being obscured.

A monstrous rock golem waddles forward like some kind of a 60-foot-tall stone penguin - every step makes a thud that rattles the teeth. How you didn't feel that vibrate before you don't even know. Magic collars encircle its neck and shoulders and the arms below the shoulder form great spiraling drills.

Skeev almost has to grab his jaw before it falls back down to the bottom. He double-times it up the rest of the ladder and into a small tower-top building with windows in each of the four directions.

[Insert war beginning here]

"Who are you talking to my lord?"
"Don't worry, its nothing."

What do you mean what? It clearly says Chermanshire in the post. Clearly. And it always did.

What is this heresy that you speak of?

The Bob is not amused.

We decided on Clemenshire as a name over a week ago, and it's been in the OP for ages after BlueDemon put it in iirc.
