Jones pulls the APC up to a T junction in front of a low tower building, possibly an office complex of some kind. Most of the windows are smashed, and Sword and Fang teams are hunkered up in the building. Wrecked and shattered robots are strewn about the 'stem' of the T, the road that leads further into the city. Some of them look no more dangerous than a LOKI, but others seem more heavily armed and armoured. They all have shiny white plates, apart from the new models, which are matte black.

Stores line the rest of the street - a small greengrocer's, an electronics store, a shoeshop, a tailor... it'd be a nice place, if it weren't eeriely abandoned save for the gunfire and 'bots.

There's not a whole lot to rummage through, bar the boxes of foodstuffs prepared earlier. Which miraculously didn't go flying when Jonesy hit the brakes. All the storage compartments within reach are empty and dusty.

Grif drops the ramp and your squad disembarks, with Fang and Sword providing a little cover fire where necessary. The APC sits side-on to the main street, with the bulk of your team standing against the side closest to the Sword/Fang holdout. Jones is still in the driver's seat, at least for now.

You can all feel a faint rumble underfoot, and it's not the APC engine. Must be whatever Sword Alpha was getting antsy about, but there's nothing coming down the street, at least not visibly or audibly...

Get yourselves situated, I think we've got at least another wave incoming before they hit us with whatever it is they're planning. Assuming we pull through this and the other backup doesn't get here in time, we're to RV at the flight control center. Command wants that dock set up as a field HQ and ready to start full-scale repairs on the Ulysses the moment they get her airborne again.”

Grab a few of the darker high tech droids, drag them into the building and try to determine what make they are or at least who made them.

What to you mean they don't fit with the helmet?! I spent hours carving out special grooves to make them fit back on the ship, hell, I even retro-fitted a HUD into its lens! If I can't make them fit, take off my helmet and just wear a comm ear piece (According to well known and widely accepted video game laws, this should increase my survival probability anyway).

Saber Squad - Office Building - Dagenham, Georgii, & Niko

The building seems to have been a small office complex - the lower floor is mostly cubicles, beyond the reception desk. Sword and Fang seem to have done a solid job of fortifying their position, with a support gunner and tech from Sword bunkered down in the lobby. The support's armour is marked with several 'β' icons, and the tech sports some prominent 'Ε' decals.

Georgii finds a nice spot up on the second floor with Sword Delta (judging by the Δ marks on his armour), who is positively itching to put that Hydra GL to good use.

Sword Delta » "Hey, Georgii, right? The frags are useless against those big ones, and they keep spreadin' too far apart for me to hit them with the HEs. Shoulda set up a run in the street for 'em, force the clankers through a bottleneck or somethin'... you want my advice, focus your fire on the colony 'bots, so Fang can save their ammo for the new chumps."

Saber Squad - Street - CD & Grif

Rather than pick through the remains in the open with more potential incomings, you opt to both grab one of the smaller black-carapaced mechs and carry it between you. Good thing too, their armour weighs a lot! The design is humanoid, but unlike the colony droids, the legs are reverse-jointed.

Saber Squad - APC - Bob and Dirk

The turret powers back up with a satisfying whir, and Dirk picks off a pair of the colony droids as Bob pulls away, moving straight ahead. The other streets around the impromptu fort are quiet, for now.

You could stay in this general area, head further into the city itself, or head back towards the suburbs. Scouting around for the other squads might not be a bad idea... you have free seats now, after all. No new signs on localnet just yet though.

I want it stated clearly that I'm wearing my aviators, the fact that I might not be is scaring me.

Setting Note: To clear up terminology, android and robot are not interchangeable concepts. Androids are 'robots' with human-level intelligence. Robots are robots with limited intelligence/programming. This upsets some androids a bit, but the hardware needed to make androids what they are isn't cheap. A primitive intelligence watchdog-'bot is, so they have to deal with it.

Androids don't get tired, but they can get bored, distracted, or otherwise become inattentive. Robots don't get bored or tired, and apart from the odd false alert, make much better watchdogs.

So, when I say 'android', I'm referring to intelligent individuals like CD-V5. When I say 'robot', I mean 'dumb' robots like these ones. Although most military personnel probably don't know or care about the difference...
