Is it possible for me to turn my swordbro into a hammerbro?

Since otherwise, odds are I'm gonna end up throwing him away.

Unless you find a forge in the middle of this raid, no-can-do. Your Mental Forge can't reshape things by itself. You need a good source of heat.

Gonna roll before I get lazy, so sorry Toko - you gonna miss this one.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Torrent (Gillian) (11)

Raphael calls out again:
"Stay hidden! I'm going to check this out closer and if it's clear enough, open the gate from the inside. If you try to find an entrance on your own, keep quiet."

That's fine - you were just going to experiment with your Photokinesis anyway. You make your way to the fortress and press your back to the wall near some of the others.

You easily manage to bend the light around yourself, which should, in theory, make you invisible. You move the effect a few feet away so you can see what it looks like.
It's... pretty transparent, but unfortunately there's some odd blurring that takes effect because your power isn't strong enough to go into such perfect detail.

Either way, it'll work like a charm from a distance, and might even be unnoticable up close. You cloak yourself in the effect.

Ociamarru (Nikolai) (6)

You hear Raphael's voice:
"Stay hidden! I'm going to check this out closer and if it's clear enough, open the gate from the inside. If you try to find an entrance on your own, keep quiet."

"Hmmm..."
You close your eyes and feel the area around you for a while... nothing. Again, all you feel is that strange sense of emptiness, and it makes you uneasy. This place can't POSSIBLY be safe...

... Or maybe you're just paranoid.

caekdaemon (Anderson) (1) (AND this action is less effective... but that means you fail less hard. Lucky?)

Incoming message from Raphael:
"Stay hidden! I'm going to check this out closer and if it's clear enough, open the gate from the inside. If you try to find an entrance on your own, keep quiet."

Bleh, forget that. There's nobody out here, and you need to find some coal.

You dig around the area, looking for coal and rocks. Rocks are easy - you pass a pile of them after just a bit of searching... but coal? There's no chance you'd find any just looking. You'd have to dig, and mine... and mine... and mine... and mine... or roll higher. That helps too.

You realize you forgot to pick up rocks, too. Dammit!

Rage +2!

CaveCricket (Raphael) (5)

"Stay hidden! I'm going to check this out closer and if it's clear enough, open the gate from the inside. If you try to find an entrance on your own, keep quiet."

You flap your way down slowly until you're near the gate that the rest of the party is on the other side of. There's nobody around the area from what you can see, so you land and return to your human form. you take one more glance around, and recieving nothing but silence and empty streets, you move in on the gate.
You slide your longsword through the exact middle of the steel bar that holds the gate shut, creating a thin, clean cut all the way through, and simply leave it hanging there. If you cut a section out of the door, it'd make noise, but now there's nothing in the way, so...

Tokochiro (Johni) (-)

You switch to the clone near the entrance and follow mindlessly.

Phd (John Adams) (10) (DAMN son - two 10s in a row. You have some awesome luck going on there.)

"Stay hidden! I'm going to check this out closer and if it's clear enough, open the gate from the inside. If you try to find an entrance on your own, keep quiet."
You hear Raphael say this, and decide to do just that - find another entrance.

After some searching of the outer wall, you find a large crack almost big enough to fit through. Curious, you touch it, and suddenly that section of the wall crumbles to the ground.

... Well, that's a big enough hole. You head inside, and find yourself in a long alleyway. To your left, you can just see the entrance some distance away. To your right, the path stretches on further than you can see.

NPCs

Gabriel (-)

[See Events]

Terry (-)

[See Events]

Locations
-Torrent, Ociamarru, caekdaemon, Tokochiro, Gabriel, and Terry are inside the fortress, right by the entrance.
-CaveCricket is a small distance down the main street, away from the entrance.
-Phd is in a side alleyway, right next to a second entrance.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Events:

Raphael's voice rings in the minds of the party.
"Everyone at the gate - push it open from out there!"
Shortly, the door cracks open a bit, before being pushed wide by Terry, who's at the center of the team consisting of most of the party.

"Nice work."
"Now that we're in, let's search the area. Keep near the entrance so we can escape if the need arises."

Suddenly, Nikolai calls out, "Samseings hea!" Everyone interprets that as "Something's here" and Raphael immediately shift into a Peregrine Falcon again. He circles the area twice before landing on a nearby statue and looking around.

... There's nothing here.

... Wait a second.

It's a bit odd... but the entire area seems to be filled with these gargoyle statues. They have an incredibly lifelike quality - top tier craftsmanship...
Oh. Oh ♥♥♥♥.
Just as he realizes that something is off with these things, he looks down and notices that the one he's standing on is vibrating violently. He utters a squawk and leaps off just as a stony hand grabs the air in the place that he was just sitting. The gargoyle's eyes glow a bright orange in the dark as it hops off of its perch and emits an ear-rending screech.

Two dozen more orange eyes light up in the night, and two loud slamming noises can be heard near the entrance. There are two flying gargoyles pushing against high points on the gate, closing it back up.

The rest of the them begin marching towards the front gate, surrounding the party on one side, and circling Raphael completely.

The door is closing shut, and the enemies are closing in.

Hopefully for once, a roll in which I morph my arms will be successful!

"Stone eez no straunger zeyn bone!"
Start blasting at the gargoyles from a distance; if any close the gap and get within reach of my Hulk-arm, bring it down like the goddamn Hammer of Thor and smash 'em to pieces.

Left arm: arm-cannon type deal (think Samus Aran) with Blast Talisman at end.
Right arm: beefy, large arm - good for pulverizing stone.

Switch to hammer as weapon. Hammer those statues into something better looking.

> Get into human form ASAP and lash at any gargoyle immediately attacking, aiming to sever limbs or a head. If not immediately attacked, use Telepathy with Subliminal Messaging to force all gargoyles (make sure not to affect team mates) to make them think they're severely bruised and every movement hurts all busted up and already broken and they shouldn't bother trying to move.

Heads up - these gargoyles are semi-skilled opponents. They recieve a dodge roll, but it is equal to 1/2 what they roll on a 12-sided die (odd rolls rounded down), so the highest they can roll is 6.
Even if you make a "failed" attack against them, if they roll too low, they get hit by it. From now on, this will apply to all attacking so that there are less boring misses. :)

Additionally, if you roll 6 or higher attack vs. dodge roll on enemies, you can continue to attack a second enemy in that turn. Otherwise it's 1 enemy per turn.

Torrent (Gillian) (3)

"Well ♥♥♥♥."
You ready your daggers in case one of the enemies approaches you, and then focus on using your special ability.
It's pretty difficult to hold two different effects with two different powers for a long period of time, so you drop your invisibility and your floating dagger sentry and create a Force Shield (6 HP).

Luckily, none of the gargoyles attack you this turn.

Ociamarru (Nikolai) (10 for arms, 3 + 1 = 4 for attack)

Your arms shift effortlessly into two separate identities - one of them a slightly longer appendage with a cylindrical shape on its end that can thrust the forearm forward without needing to move your entire arm, and the other a brutish mace that could only be called an arm because of the huge fingers on its end.

Acquired Cannon and Smasher templates!

A single gargoyle eyes you, so you aim the blast Talisman at it and thrust forward your Cannon arm (4 v. 1). You hit it square in the chest and it goes flying backwards, a large crater burned in the place where it was hit. It hits the ground with a crash, and cracks spread through its body. It begins to get up slowly, but crumbles to pieces as it does so.

caekdaemon (Anderson) (11 and 12 for attacks, 11 for extra bonus) (So many rolls)

"Widdy, don't take this personally, but I don't think your very suited to this fight. Swords vs stone?"
"In that case, I will focus on defense." Widdy floats behind you, ready to ward off any incoming attacks.

You draw your hammer and charge into a nearby foe (11 v. 1), hitting it with an upward swing that smashes its face clean off - an improvement. (12 v. 6) an enemy shoulder-slams you from the back, nearly toppling you over, but your armor absorbs most of the blow and you hold firm. You spin around (12 v. 1) and execute a series of strikes that take off both of its arms and then crushes its head to powder.

Rage +1!

CaveCricket (Raphael) (7)

You switch into human form immediately, ready to fight. Good thing, too, because two gargoyles leap at you (11 v. 6) (4 v. 5). You throw yourself right, but one of them still manages to land a hit on your left shoulder. You counter-strike (7 v. 5) and although the blow was weak, it easily slices the gargoyle that hit you in half diagonally. The other one prepares to attack again, and...

... gets blindsided and sent flying several meters by Terry, who seems to have come to your aid.
"Looks like you could use a little help."

Tokochiro (Johni) (1)

Nobody seems to be bothering to attack you, so you attack them. Leaping to the front of the group, you target the nearest gargoyle and take a swing at it (1 v. 3) ... missing horribly.
The gargoyle doesn't take kindly to this, however, and attacks (oh look, they're unarmed strikes) (7 v. 6, 6) catching you in the abdomen with a weak strike.

Phd (John Adams) (11 + 2 = 12 and 12 + 2 = 12)

Making sure you remember the side passage, you run down the alleyway towards your friends until you're in range. (12 v. 5) (12 v. 4) You pull the two flying gargoyles down to the ground ferociously. The door stops closing, and the gargoyles you grabbed are on the ground, in pieces. That worked pretty well.

NPCs

Gabriel (11)

Gabriel moves to the head of the group (2 v. 3) dodging a gargoyle (11 v. 3) before bringing his sword, now flat on the sides and working like a mace, down on the enemy's back and destroying it completely.

Terry (5)

Terry forces his way through the main group, all of them leaping aside to avoid being crushed, (5 v. 3) and slams into a gargoyle that's facing off with Raphael. It hits the ground and shatters like pottery.
"Looks like you could use a little help."

Locations
-Torrent, Ociamarru, caekdaemon, Tokochiro, and Gabriel are by the entrance.
-CaveCricket and Terry are a small distance down the main street, away from the entrance.
-Phd is halfway down a side alleyway that leads to a second entrance.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________

Events:

The gate stops closing thanks to the efforts of John (Phd). There is enough space left to fit through...
Gabriel shouts, "Everyone! We can get out of here now if we want to, but I have a feeling we'll just be hunted down by a larger group! I say we fight our way through these guys and head for the city center - we can use the building defensively if we get in!"

~

Enemy Count
Alive: 27
Destroyed: 8

~

Jeebus, the sheer number of 11s this turn. Clearly my RNG is wonky today. Ah well. Nobody has a problem with 11s, right? (They essentially act like Successes...)
