Re: Roll to Dodge - Illusia
Well, here we go! I've got the One Piece theme song stuck in my head right now.... but it doesn't matter because I love it!
Let's roll!
Nonsequitorian (5)
You remove the bullet from your gun and instead grab a handful of sand from the ground, stuffing as much of it in the barrel as possible. "Eh, well, if I can't kill you, I can surely just make your life absolute hell." You aim the gun at the werewolf and fire. (5 v. 1) Sparkling dust is ejected from the gun, and it travels in a wide arc like a shotgun shell. The werewolf has absolutely no idea what is coming. Much of the sand, it seems, turned to glass from the heat of the powder explosion, and it hits every part of the creature's body. The werewolf's scream must have been heard for miles around. It collapses to the ground, not only blinded, but in tremendous amounts of pain. Then Torrent comes by and slashes its throat out.
Inv. [7] -Powder Horn and Ball Bag (48/50) [3] Eq. -Dan's Black Powder Rifle (0/1) [4] P-Abilities -Ranged Mechanical Weapons Knowledge (+1 to repair if roll is 2 or lower) (+1 to use of Dan's Rifle) (-2 to bow and arrow) A-Abilities -None Injuries -Upper Body - Clawed (Clotting)
Ociamarru (5)
"You...agh - bastard! You'll suffer for this!" You raise your eyes to the wolf, set on smashing out every damn tooth in his damn mug. You leap forward (5 v. 3) and take your fist straight to the wolf's face. It takes the hit hard. You hop back and observe it as it pulls itself together. To your great satisfaction, your blood in the wolf's mouth is now mingled with its own.
And six its fangs are gone.
Inv. [9] -Hammer [3] Eq. -Gauntlets [2] -Nikolai's Longsword [4] P-Abilities -Expert Craftmanship (+1 to metalwork) A-Abilities -None Injuries -Left Thigh - Wolf bite (Moderate Bleeding)
TorrentHKU (3 + 1 = 4)
You see the werewolf crouching in pain after taking a sparkly shot from Non, and decide that this is the best time to attack. You charge at it's huddled form just as it begins to stand. (3+1 v. 4-2) "Hate to cut and run..." And you slash its throat out.
Inv. [4] -Hip Flask [2] Eq. -Dagger [2] P-Abilities -Sleight of Hand (+1 to dexterity) A-Abilities -None Injuries -Head - Clawed left side (Clotted)
Tokochiro (5)
You walk towards the nearest wolf and literally take it down in a single movement. You stand there, staring at a dead body with two broken legs and a shattered spine. REWIND. Now... SLOW MOTION. Just as the wolf tries to bite, you held its jaw closed with one hand, and wrapped your nunchuck cane around its legs with the other. You then tugged at the nunchuck whilst twisting its head around a good 120 degrees. It died immediately.
You didn't know you could do that.
Inv. [8] -Bomb [2] -Bandages (3) [3] Eq. -Nunchuck Cane [3] P-Abilities -Helping Hand (+1 to assisting friends) A-Abilities -None Injuries -None
HEN (-)
You were going to stab a wolf, but then you see that they've all run away, or were killed.
Inv. [6] -Compound Crossbow (2/6) [3] Eq. -Sickle [3] P-Abilities -In the Shadows (+1 to stealth action rolls) A-Abilities -None Injuries -None
Adam (-)
You were about to attack the werewolf, but then you see that it is gone. There is a pile of ashes next to Nonsequitorian and Torrent. And in the center of this pile is something you didn't expect.
Inv. [6] -None Eq. -Knife w/ Knuckled Handguard [2] -Chainmail [4] P-Ablities -Fist Fighter (+1 hand to hand combat) A-Abilities -None Injuries -None
EVENTS
The werewolf stands very still for a moment, then, gaping up at the sky, turns to ash. The specks float away peacefully in the night breeze. The few remaining wolves flee.
As the ashes scatter, it becomes evident that there is something left in the pile of grey dust. The party hears a curious "yip". Everyone stares at the tiny gray wolf-pup sitting in the middle of the ashes, and words escape your lips without your consent.
"It's so cute!"
The pup cocks its head to the side, which causes more responses of, "Don't you just want to squeeze it?" and "He's adorable!" from the crowd.
Also in the pile is an odd gem. It glows white with an unnatural brightness. The old storytelling man manages to stutter, "A Glyph!"
Quick explanation of Glyphs
Glyphs are this game's most notable feature, and the ONLY method of attaining active abilities.
By touching a Glyph and thinking (typing what you want your character to think) you can attain a power based on that thought. If you smash a Glyph with an object, it'll bestow the ability upon that item instead. Your character can have two Glyph powers, and an item can hold one.
You may end up competing for Glyphs. This is because they are a limited resource and tend to come from more powerful foes. Only one person can grab a Glyph, so only one person can have the power when you find one. If you are all trying to grab it at the same time, I will roll to decide the victor.
Or you could all be nice and discuss amongst yourselves who deserves it the most. I don't care either way, just don't resort to killing each other over it. There will be others.
Remember to post your "thought" when you are grabbing a Glyph.
So, we now have a homeless puppy and a powerful relic. What to do...?

You guys are both suckers for furry little animals.
I'd grab the puppy, too...

Re: Roll to Dodge - Illusia
You can name him Frederic (once you own him) but he won't be an awesome Golem. He'll be more like Butterscotch, actually. He is just a puppy.
But he's so CUTE!

Re: Roll to Dodge - Illusia
There's gonna be more competition for the puppy than for the Glyph. Wow.

Re: Roll to Dodge - Illusia
Puppy is gonna cause a blood bath.
Then again if/when it grows up, you get a canine companion.
Name him dog meat, that way you know what he is in case of a food shortage. I'm going to be maimed for saying that...

Re: Roll to Dodge - Illusia
Just so you guys know, puppies need a lot of care and devotion.
....In real life that is.
In RtD, puppies cause people to massacre each other, just because they are there.
But... I don't really want you guys killing each other. Fighting over a puppy does not advance the storyline.
Also, all the townspeople that escaped are going to be watching you guys argue over who gets to keep him. And NPC's opinions of you do matter sometimes.

Re: Roll to Dodge - Illusia
Then I claimed him first, so I should get him. Plus the man with the gun is saying that I get it, and you don't argue with a man with a gun.

Re: Roll to Dodge - Illusia
Go toward the glyph, guarding it. "You know, the others may be interested in that pup over there, but my friend, I'd like that glyph as well. Be it my blade or my own person, I could use it just as much as you. How must we solve this conundrum of greed?"
