Re: Ad Infidium (Roll 191)
Hey sorry about the action/dialogue I wrote last night/really early this morning. It was posted at 9 pm, but I woke up at like 2 am after only getting a couple hours of sleep and I'm pretty sure I rewrote it around then to some really, well, inaccurate or even really metagamey stuff without realizing it, such as asking Kleigg to remove gauntlets he's not even currently wearing, as just one example. I know Kebb already responded, but I decided to edit it to something a bit more coherent, but not completely different, so the flow of the conversation isn't changed (hopefully). Sorry again, I'm gonna have to be more careful about the circumstances that I write my actions under, and just in general how I write them.
"Hmph... Fair enough, Kleigg." *Vandolf's posture becomes noticeably less aggressive.* "Perhaps I haven't given you enough credit. But even so, the fact remains that this organization you've joined... Spiral, was it? Well, it's safe to say that this organization has made itself a symbol for runic magic as a whole. Anyone who practices it is treated as a criminal - and whether or not Spiral is the source of this stigma or not, they're only adding fuel to the fire, making themselves and all rune mages villains in the eyes of the very people they hope to serve."

Tabi: "Rune mages are already villains in the eyes of the Hastae."
The chirop relaxes a bit, but still holding on to the three or so paper packets she had drawn without you noticing.
Tabi: "Before the Spiral existed as an organization, our founder had tried to present Rune magic to Magusalto in a peaceful manner. He and his colleagues wrote formal research papers on the subject of runic magic, proposing its techniques and usages while still concealing the exact method by which rune magic operated. After that, our founder disappeared into hiding to create the Spiral. His colleagues had suddenly 'forgotten' the existence of runic magic, all their research papers gone, all their friends interrogated.
Someone in the Hastae wants runic magic to be forgotten."

"Tabi, we need to break out of this trap! Vandolf - I will see you again, in a better time, gods willing!"
>Charge the chirop on my end of the alley, shield raised. If nothing else, I need to clear room for her to escape and signal others. postpone for now
MLC I actually thought that was a really well-put together confrontation between characters. gj

Tabi: ”Sorry.”
With a flick of her wrist, the three paper packets flip open with a snap.
An explosion of cool mist fills the alleyway, obscuring all view. You feel someone firmly wrap an arm around your waist and then lift you up, high up into the air at a steady rate at a fairly decent speed. As you ascend from the mist, you see that it’s Tabi holding on to you and somehow rising up into the air without wings, a single opened paper packet in her hand. The two of you reach a scary height before climbing into a balcony.
Tabi: ”Detailed-story time will have to wait, we gotta get to safety. You alright? Did the paralysis rune affect you?” ____________________

"That sounds like a plan t' me. Likely not best idea t' jump straight t' the most advanced stuff."
Madenuuk: ”Then let us be off.”
You, Madenuuk, Horoma, and Miimas leave the house, exiting town and heading North-East into the dense forest.
Even in the daylight, the trees block nearly all sunlight from reaching the ground, and there’s a deafening silence looming in the darkness.
Madenuuk: ”Descendents of the corrupted beasts live here. The ones we hunt are drakes - large, ugly lizards. They eat our cattle and are an annoyance to everyone. Do not hunt the manticores - they are ancient and intelligent. The ones here are aggressive and can tear a lupus in two with little effort. They stay in the forest unless angered. Years ago, an amateur shaman attempted to take down a manticore, only managing to injure it before retreating back to Fluustern. The manticore came into our city and went on a rampage, slaughtering lupus until it was driven away with magic.
Drakes are about the size of lupus, sometimes larger, sometimes smaller. They are dumb creatures, but they are still predators. Aim for the head, avoid damaging the torso as much as you can, as that is where the magic items are hidden. Do you, have any questions? Require any items?” ____________________

-Chilling Howl (Degrading Condition) (Strike fear into enemies, lowering their Aim and Arcane) (-Aim , -Arcane = Will) Passives: Strength: 8 Arcane: 8 Aim: 6 Evasion: 5 +2 Will: 9 Speed: 4

With a flick of her wrist, the three paper packets flip open with a snap.
There’s an explosion of cool mist in the alleyway, obscuring all view, and you suddenly feel yourself becoming extremely tired, slumping down to the ground. You can faintly hear the armored chirop cursing weakly and retreating. ____________________

John, P’orihc, Ki’stha
P’orihc: "So um, just out of curiosity. What exactly happened that got you in here? You don't really have to answer if you don't want."
Emiel: "Y'know how I'm good at uh, 'flipping things around?' I was doing some experiments on teleportation, and there was an accident that, uh, flipped an entire block around. Inside-out, to be precise. Including, uh, living things."
John: "Well that DOES sound like the sort of thing you'd need for flipping a castle. We may have a good chance of convincing them after all, depending on how valuable this watchtower is to them. And how good of an inmate you've been. Question is, how do we get you over to Vranhal after that. Could go the diplomatic way and try to work that into the bargain. Or could go the less sane 'run for it when we get free' way. I'd really prefer not to be a fugitive from the Chirop government."
P’orihc: "Well, so it was an accident. I guess we have good chances to get you out of here with the community service thing."
Emiel: ”Sounds like a plan then. Is that all? Any more questions? Comments?”
Kleigg, Vandolf
Vandolf: "Kleigg...?! I must admit, I'm glad to see you in one piece. Kleigg: "Hold on, more violence won't be necessary. I will go with you to help whatever innocents were harmed in this mission, but we need to discuss its motivation. This organization is working to return runic power to the hands of the people, to free them from tyrants and restore their ability to create for themselves. Breaking machines is one way toward undoing the greatest crime of the Ruhe."
"Tabi, please, will you stay with me to help? Vandolf, will you let her be? Matters are complicated. We need to make sure we are doing right by civilians who the Spiral may come to depend on."
