The two of us handled that last one, but if we run into a pair of ‘em at the same time or one more experienced one then we’re in trouble. If you used more spirity magic or something maybe we’d be fine with just us? I’d like to play it safe though.”

Gates? Alchemy? and 'ere I though spirit magic was jus' channelin' spirits.

Horoma: Gates are passages between the physical world and otherworld. Normally when someone uses magic, their spirit alters energy in the otherworld to a specific form and send it through a miniscule gate. When the energy passes through the gate, it is changed to fit the physical world’s laws, and what it changes into depends on what it was originally in the otherworld. Rift shamans create more powerful gates that let more than basic otherworld energy through.

Grant: Alchemy, while isn’t affiliated with the Ruhe, uses gates as well. Their transmutation art involves sending physical world matter and energy into the otherworld, altering it there, and returning it back to the physical world. It’s a very taboo form of magic, something about gradually depleting the material in our world, but mostly because one alchemist found out how to transmute matter into raw energy. He’s responsible for the fifth largest lake in the world.

Horoma: The Daeli and the Second set out to obliterate all knowledge of alchemy after that incident, though I don’t doubt that there are a few juicy research documents left hidden around here and there.

Also, tell your fire pipe friend that we’ll be fine as long as you channel us spirits-in-a-stick.

Bayfri: ”Meant more of ideas on what to do in general, not necessarily about throwing out bait for investigators. Anyways, we should probably wait for Tabi to get back with her information before we take action.”

You decided to read through one of the investigation reports while waiting. A small group of smugglers are apparently operating in the city, stealing magic artifacts and selling them on the black market. The goods get as far as the forests by Hopluit, where supposed bandit hideouts are hidden.

A few sharp knocks on the door, the password being spoken, and Bayfri unlocks the door for Tabi, closing it back up once she gets inside.

Tabi: ”We’ve got reports of an armored human breaking into an apartment in the western residential spire, heard some officials discussing it in the citadel. There were some documents there too that seemed to talk about us but it barely had any information, figured leaving it there would be best, else they’d notice and maybe figure out who’s stealing their stuff. Anyways, we gotta get moving, the Hastae has dispatched a task force already and they’re asking people about where they saw our metal guy headed, they’ll be knocking on the door here soon enough.”

Bayfri grabs a seemingly random report, one that definitely isn’t the one mentioning his organization.

Bayfri: ”Maybe they’ll think the one that’s missing is the culprit. Anyways, let’s move.”

The wolf moves to a corner of the building a lifts up a square section of the floor, revealing a set of stairs. A second later, there’s a sharp knock on the front door.

Well, it sounds pretty good, but might be hard t' find somewhere t' learn alchemy from.

The city of Gabel seems to be a popular spot for travellers to stop, being at the intersection of three highways after all. Wouldn’t be too hard to pick up another travelling companion, but it’s probably not necessary.

After finishing writing the spell on a fresh piece of paper, you test it out with 2 mana. While it works well enough, it seems that it doesn’t seem to be basing the distance from your chest, but from your head.
