The foilage at the edge of the clearing rustles, and out of it steps a large furred creature, a little larger than the black dragon.
Its body is long like a weasel with a fluffy tail that ends with long, two-foot long black quills. The creatue's fur coat is thick and a light, sandy color, and the head of the beast looks like a dog's but elongated with short triangular ears. A pair of long whiskers hang from right beneath the creature's nose, and it gestures with scaly hands and clawed five-fingered hands as it speaks in a voice that sounds like an old school teacher.
???: "I was going to help you, but then that... Oh, you have new friends. And they have pointy magicy items.
... Hello! I don't eat humans or chirop or lupus, and in fact I'm not even hungry!"
The creature seems to smile, while its hands look like they're nervously fidgeting.

You head over to Aucupe and Mist, who are observing a fresh corrupted corpse.
It doesn't even look like a human or chirop or lupus, rather, some sort of hunched over thing with a short snout, skinny scaly body, and unusually long arms.
It's also in two pieces, but you assume it wasn't initially like that.
Aucupe: "They're changing a lot. This one and that other small one could teleport or something."

You ready your sword with Power Flow, and it's then that the figure in white strides towards your party.
Ettiin: "Get back, Koa!"
Without letting her even move, Ettiin shoves Koa backwards as the white figure flies forward, clashing blades with Ettiin. Despite the assailant's weapon resembling a thin, delicate rapier, it doesn't falter as it fends off Ettiin's hammer blows, the pounding sound loud enough to knock icicles loose from the ceiling.
Before you know it, you're fending off attacks yourself as the assailant, in between you and Ettiin, lashes at both of you with blinding speed, alternating back and worth in the blink of an eye, cape flourishing as the figure dances dangerously around your every attack and knocks away your sturdiest guard.
Ettiin: "Koa! Garett! Give us some distance!
Don't get close!"
Garett and Koa back off, or so you assume, since you're too busy trying to keep your organs from getting skewered at the moment to assess the situation.

You take the lead and head north, Aucupe and Mist following closely.
Dead corrupted bodies are here and there, becoming increasingly numerous the further you travel. It isn't long before the ground is almost entirely covered in a blanket of corpses, and not far ahead is a familiar armored figure with a shark-like helm and glaive.
Torrent: "I'm sure you already noticed the corrupted around these parts are quite different. The mountain where the Ultima dragon rests has turned into a corrupted nest, leaking chaos and spawning monsters."
The armor turns to Mist.
Torrent: "You cannot venture any further towards the mountain without resistance to corruption. I will allow you to wield me and provide you with armor, or your allies can give you one of their weapons and I will assist them. You all can decide how to work that out."

(Nighthawk) Kyros Deiimor [ 3 + 2 ] = 5 > Watching carefully, you an opening to strike as the figure snaps to lash at Ettiin.
Moving as fast as your kinetic-enhanced body allows, you jump on the opportunity with a quick slice at the figure's midsection. There isn't much power behind the blow compared to Ettiin's attacks, but it whips out fast enough to strike the figure in the back, stunning him long enough for Ettiin to slam her blade into his side.
There's a blur of white as the figure is thrown down the entrance hall, tumbling along the ground before somehow landing on his feet. The area where the figure is turns into dust and debris as Garett barrages the man with a series of kinetic bolts, followed by what looks like a goddamn laser beam of white light from Koa.
The air shimmers and glows before exploding in a flash of light, blowing out the ceiling windows and shattering nearby ice structures. A blast of air hits you with enough force to push you back a foot, but you quickly regain your footing and keep your guard up, carefully eying the spot where the figure was standing.
It takes a few seconds for the air to clear, and the party waits in silence as a jagged crater is revealed, adorned with large chunks of debris and cracked stone floor.
A charred black hand rises from the ruins and grabs onto the edge of the crater, pulling into view a similarly burned figure. The isn't an outfit anymore, just an ashy exterior. Parts of its burned "skin" is cracked with a clear but thick fluid slowly oozing out.
The eyes, however, are still present, but have changed. Instead of human-like eyes, they've been replaced by large, glowing sky-blue circles. The rapier is in the figure's hand, completely unscathed.
With a crack, the figure's mouth opens, revealing a pink fleshy mouth, the only human-like feature it currently possesses. It seems to take a few breaths in, though you're not even sure why such a thing even needs to breath.
???: "What the hell do they teach mages these days."
