You walk over to the paper. When you’re within about 4 feet, there’s a flash of light over the rune that lasts for only an instant. You decided to gather your marbles now, letting Vandolf fiddle around more with the forbidden magic.

You exit the room and navigate the hallways towards an exit leading to a catwalk. There’s the occasional door here and there opened slightly that quickly shut as you near them, but nothing too concerning yet. Reaching the exit, you throw open the heavy wooden door and…

Holy ♥♥♥♥. You knew you were on the eighth floor, but you didn’t realize how high it really was. There’s a balcony in front of you, with a catwalk extending out of it to the next tower.

No time to let heights get to you. You quickly pace through the balcony and on to the catwalk. It’s approximately one meter wide with half meter high walls on both sides. From the sounds of your rushed steps, it seems to be made of wood, but painted to match the stone of the towers.

You make it to the opposing tower without incident, stepping onto its balcony and pulling open the d- wait, it’s locked?

This one seems to be made of metal, with an inscribed brass plate above the doorknob.

Swipe student identification here

Well, this is some high-magitech bull♥♥♥♥. Maybe you could knock and hope someone opens it for you? Or go back, but there’s no telling what you’re going to run into back at the residential tower.

The two of you continue forward, leaving the corpse to the vultures. Both of you are on guard, your warhammer ready and Miimas’s rifle scanning the forest shadows.

After a few short minutes of walking, there’s a rustle in the bushes and a dark shape rushes towards you. Miimas’s rifle fires in a flash of light and a crack of thunder, the attacker making no attempt to dodge yet doesn’t seem to be slowed a bit.

A lupus, air shimmering around it, and a shimmering blade in his gauntleted hand, charging at you faster than you’re comfortable with.

Lupus: 8 Aim + 6 Roll 14 vs 12 = 3 Magic Evasion + 2 Roll + 7 Evasion :Kveltziv
Attack lands, inflicting 20 damage

Despite your best attempt to dodge, you fail to evade the translucent blade as it slices through your robe, padded shirt, and the surface of your chest, your bones and flesh screaming in pain.

You backpedal in panic, the enemy leaping back into the shadows of the forest.

Miimas: ”♥♥♥♥, you okay!?”

Your chirop companion has her sword drawn now, the tip of the blade twitching.

Grant: I can’t see him!

Horoma: He’s blocking spirit detection! Some sort of protection barrier too!

You watch John test the runic light mine, which works pretty much spot-on.

Now, to figure out how to learn new runes. You try brute-force testing some random symbols, but it doesn’t work. Hrmm, even if you somehow do get an actual rune, there’s no way knowing if it’s a structural or an action rune, and then you’d have to figure out what it does and how to work it.

"Worked perfectly. There's probably some room for improvement, so I'll do that really quick. Any ideas for a name for our light flasher rock?"

> Make a similar rune spell, one that is armed once its mana reserves increase by 0.5, like before. When it is armed, it locks onto the nearest spirit with a complexity over 30 and treats this spirit as its master. If the master spirit is within 8 meters, the spell will always do nothing. If the master spirit is farther away than that however, it will release all of its mana as light if a spirit with complexity over 30 comes within 2 meters of it.

You play around with flinging marbles around, hovering one in the air and shooting others at it while strafing.

You’re getting a better feel for kinetic launching, might be able to make it dangerous with more practice.

You knock on the door. A few seconds later, there’s a click and the door opens out, a uniformed chirop standing off to the side of the doorway.

Chirop: ”Forgot your pa... Uh.”

He looks you over up and down.

Chirop: ”Are you like, a delivery guy or something?”

___Speed Roll___
Lupus: 3 Speed + 4 Roll = 7
Kyeltziv: 2 Speed + 4 Roll = 6
Miimas: 4 Speed + 2 Roll = 6

___Action Priority___
Lupus: 7
Kyeltziv: 6 (4)
Miimas: 6 (1)

___Events___
Lupus attacks Kyeltziv
Lupus: 8 Aim + 1 Roll = 9 vs 12 = 3 Magic Evasion + 2 Roll + 7 Evasion :Kyeltziv
Attack misses

Kyeltziv channels Grant
Grant uses Accelerated Repair (4 Mana) on Kyeltziv
Kyeltziv recovers 19 Health

Kyeltziv uses Power Flow on himself

Kyeltziv attacks (4 Stamina) Lupus
Lupus does not attempt to evade
Attack lands, inflicting 28 damage to ??? and 6 Trauma to Lupus

Miimas attacks Lupus
Lupus: 9 Evasion + 3 Roll = 12 vs 18 = 1 Roll + 17 Aim :Miimas
Attack lands, inflicting 15 Cut

You don’t get time to back out of the forest. A rustle somewhere behind you and you turn around to see the Lupus charging at you again. This time, you manage to evade the shimmering blade and still have time to channel grant for healing and then counter-attack with a power flow’d hammer.

The heavy chunk of metal slams into the strange barrier covering the lupus with a screech and then continues through as the barrier vanishes, significantly slowed but still enough to bruise your target.

Miimas follows up with her sword, her accuracy unmatched, delivering a nasty slash on the enemy.

The enemy backs up a few steps, and now you get a good look at him.

He’s wearing dark clothing that looks made for fast movement. On his right hand is the leather gauntlet that you remember seeing on the other guy who attacked you. The translucent blade and barrier are gone, but there’s no telling how long they’re going to stay that way.

You write down another runic spell, similar to the previous one bit with a few modifications.
