Add to my Evasion Behavior, use Impulse Evasion to recover before my actions if I've been stumbled that turn and I have at least 2 AP.

Vandolf: "Lucida is only going to take more and more extreme measures to get what he wants. The sooner we can resolve this, the better."

"We aren't going to accomplish anything by keeping secrets from ourselves."

Torrent remains as a statue for several seconds before responding.

Torrent: ”Lucida was a friend of mine. I was offered a deal with another party to provide information that would lead an ambush on Lucida, in return for something else. I accepted.”

There’s a pause and everyone waits for him to say more, but he ends his story there.

Tara: ”That’s not exactly helpful if you leave out every possible detail. This other party was what, the Second? And what’s the ‘something else’ that was worth handing your friend over? The weapon in your hand?”

Silence.

The lord takes a sip from a mug on her desk, calmly resting it back on a small wooden coaster and facing forward.

Elizabeth: ”That’s pretty much all I got last time I tried to get any sort of information. He’s just going to play the silent game now.”

Tara lets out a sigh, and her hand moves towards the pommel of her sword before freezing before letting it drop down. Looks like more of a habit than a threat.

Tara: ”Alright, so we have someone unarmed try to negotiate with Lucida and jog his memory. How are we convincing him to not go after Ultima?”

Elizabeth: ”I don’t know. We don’t even know what exactly Ultima does. Kinda hard to persuade him without knowing what we’re talking about other than it’s really dangerous, but I doubt that’s going to be of much good.”

Kark: ”Do you think his memories would come back over time? Maybe we could stall him until he gets something back that would stop him from trying to get to Ultima.”

Elizabeth: ”Could try putting out false information, get him to run around. John, do you remember anything about your encounter with Lucida? Did he say anything that could be helpful? Friends? Family? Hobbies?”

Everything blurs, and then turns to darkness. You stir, and realize that you’re waking up. Opening your eyes, you see a chirop crouched in front of you. This one’s wearing pants similar to yours but black in color, along with a long sleeved black hooded jacket of some sort.

???: ”Hey, you alive?”

Sounds female. You’re not really sure what’s up with the ninja gear, but it seems suspicious.

"Split the cost?"

Miimas: ”Sure.”

The two of you bring out 5 copper each, and the innkeep hands you a key with the number ‘5’ on it.

Innkeeper: ”Have a nice night.”

You and Miimas head over to room five, unlock the door, and enter. It’s not especially large, but there’s enough space for two beds, one on each side of the room, a small table-and-drawer at the end of the room, and you’re able to walk side by side.

Miimas: ”Alright, I’m tired.”

She kicks off her boots, places her items at the end of the bed and flops on said bed.

Miimas: ”See you in the morning.”

She tucks herself under the covers and becomes motionless.

… She couldn’t have fallen asleep that fast, could she?

Horoma: We’ll keep watch if you need to sleep, warn you if anyone tries to cause trouble. Unless if you’re planning on doing something else?

"Wait... Torrent. I understand that it might be difficult to share the private information we're asking for.
But please understand, I would gladly give my life if it meant this bloodshed could end - and I'm sure everyone in this room feels the same way. But I fear that Lucida won't hold back forever, and that at this rate, many of us will have to pay that price.

But you, Torrent, you could easily save the lives of everyone in this room, and perhaps the lives of many more innocents, by sharing a few details.
If you ask me, such a selfless act would easily outweigh any past indiscretions."

That's all I have, really. Unsurprisingly, he wasn't very talkative about his personal life, if he even remembered it. It was back soon after the global spell, I'd assume. Are there any records of people wielding Lucida falling in battle, or major figures in any big battles against Caelum?

...Oh! And, you said that you weren't sure what Ultima did. The Second believes it can create Corruption. So, that plus powerful control over Light and Dark magic, I'd assume."

Elizabeth: ”Magic corruption on top of Light and Dark, wonderful. At least we somewhat know what we’re dealing with.
The person getting trapped into Lucida soon after the spirit trap global spell, I don’t think that’s likely. Lucida knows Torrent, and Torrent’s, uh, not sure how old he is but he’s definitely not older than a hundred and fifty, and the spirit trap global spell happened some six hundred years ago.
Records of people wielding Lucida within the last two hundred years, none. Records, that is. Possible that it happened. Major figures in large battles against a sect of Caelum within the past two hundred years, a lot. War of Blades and the Caelum-Daeli War, the Equilibrium War if that counts.”

Tara: ”Fixing their ‘condition’... Maybe something the Ruhe shamans would be able to help with?”

Elizabeth: ”Already sent some people to poke around Fluustern, see who or what they could find. They probably aren’t there yet, wasn’t too long ago.
Hmm. I suppose the most peaceful route we have right now is having someone unarmed explain what we’re attempting to do, which is somehow separate the spirits from Lucida and Ultima, but we don’t have any sort of information on how feasible that is, and I doubt he’d trust someone to attempt that sort of thing on him.”

After making sure that the door to the room is closed and locked, as well as the window, you drop your stuff at the end of the bed and then crawl under the blankets, the sturdy wooden framework not giving a single creak as you shift around a bit on the large feather-stuffed mattress. You haven’t slept for a while, and it’s not hard letting your eyes droop shut, and you float off into sleep.

It’s dark. You can barely see anything around you, but you’re aware of what’s going on. A cell of some sort. A corner of the room has two mangled metal grates and a pile of glass that came from the window set in the stone brick wall, thick iron bars remaining as the only blockage. The other corner has a pile of feathers and small bones. A human girl with pure white hair wearing dirty clothing rests a small bread crust on the window and hides against the wall so anyone at the window wouldn’t be able to see her. A flapping noise, a crow lands on the bottom of the window, intending to grab the bread, but the girl’s quick hands snatch the bird as it caws and beats its wings and tries to bite at whatever it can grab, but a cracking sound silents the bird. The girl fetches the bread crust, taking it and the dead crow over to her bed where she sits on the edge. She plucks the feathers off one by one...

"But we tried that. Negotiations have already failed. It seems Lucida has serious trust issues - quite understandable, considering his past, both recent and distant. If we still wish to pursue negotiations, we'd need some proof of our good will and sincerity.

The negotiator would need to be alone with Byrnolf as to attract Lucida's attention, and be unarmed so they aren't a threat. And we can't send a nobody like last time... sorry John, but sending somebody of no significance won't do.

As far as I can tell, Elizabeth would be the best negotiator in this situation. Lucida already knows how powerful and influential she is, as he has fought her before. Her coming to him unarmed would send a very big message. If we show him a bit of trust this way, he may just do the same for us.

Trust is only the first step however. For us to actually negotiate anything, we have to be able to give him something in return.

The only thing we can currently offer to him is to show him the location of Ultima, as long as he promises not to release it. If he agrees to this, I think we can trust him. He seems to despise treachery, and generally very... honorable, as long as he doesn't feel threatened.

From there we can wait for the party heading to Fluustern to return, and attempt release the spirit residing in Ultima. If we can do this, we can offer the spirit to him in some way that allows them to remain together, and offer to release Lucida as well if he so desires.

And then everyone lived happily ever after."

"That's not a good idea. Lucida's been burned one too many times already, leading with the information he wants most would be reckless at best, suicidal at worst. If we got some way into negotiation and diplomacy, I mean months of building rapport and trust, maybe then it'd be fine to reveal the location. Right now? If he got the location, boom, we're done. He'd run off to it immediately. Well, with some caution, considering how likely it is to be a trap for us to just tell him like that.
The rest of the negotiations, yes, Lord Elizabeth would be ideal for the job. I would recommend Tara, but I'm not sure how well known her name was when Lucida was spirited, so that may just be going off the Daeli name. Though telling him that the Daelis are supporting Vranhal in this Lucida endeavor could be a useful thing. Either for intimidation or for proving the legitimacy of your attempts to help him and Ultima."
