Anyone have any good games compatable with mac? Free ones that can run on a crappy mactop, please. (This is for school)
And don't mention Cave Story or Cortex Command or I'll gut you.

Aside from that I an literally only think of Warcraft 3.

Did I mention it's a school computer oh wait I did
No steam goddamn it
Also I guess I could try to pirate some mac games but I'm not sure if I could install them correctly due to computer permissions/lack of software needed. (PowerISO? Not familiar with mac torrents)

Abuse (abandonware)
ADOM (roguelike, you could also get .hack, angbad, dungeon-crawl stone soup)
Antares (kinda freeware (who knows) re-release of Ares, an old game that used to be under Ambrosia SW)
Black Shades (psychic/gun bodyguard game)
Dwarf Fortress (madness, roguelike but not, fun and Fun)
The Marathon trilogy + Total Conversions (Bungie's spiritual precursor to Halo, now open-source-ish.)
Spelunky now has a mac version (albeit kind-of wrappered)
Super Crate Box
Warzone 2100 (some old rts, now opensource and still kinda fun)

These are all the free ones in my games folder I still play fairly regularly.
If you need links for any of them I can probably track them down. You can also get access to a lot of windows games using something like Wine/Wineskin, but maybe not for a school computer.

Also the built in img launcher does most iso files, and there are 3rd party tools around for most of the rest.

Also also you can get a DOSBox emulator like Boxer for mac, and run a bunch of old DOS games, such as you'd find on Abandonia or something.

Thanks! I'll check out some of those. I already had SCB, and I didn't think to bring Spelunky or DF!

ISO's still work for macs, after all its jsut a disc image (though if the game came with a Mac Specific disk (as opposed to warcraft that had both builds on one dvd) you will need an ISO of the Mac Disc.

How are you getting around the block? using USB install path? an alternative is to download an OSX installer, install OSX to a portable HDD and when you start the mac, boot from the portable HDD. That way, no blocks, no worries :)

As for games. Well, Personally i enjoyed CnC3. its not "Glorious CnC2 nostalgia" but its pretty good.

Yarr Bay has a "games(Mac)" tag so you can search there. theres also the good old; go to a shop and find mac games, then yarr away when you get home, thats if you can.

as far as DOS goes, Checkout "Emuparadise" they mostly do emulators but their abandonware / DOS archive is pretty impressive.
