I got to know this game after seeing a thread about CC on dwarf fortress.

For those who don't know what Dwarf Fortress is, it's an ASCII game (meaning it only uses letters and symbols for the graphics) where you lead a band of dwarves out into some (usually extremely dangerous) location where you then build a fortress that becomes strong, grows wealthy, attracts more dwarves, and which eventually falls apart in a most spectacular fashion.

So anyone here play the game?

We could try a succession fort though.

Oh yeah, I'd be up for that. Though I'm not sure how well I'd be able to manage everything seeing as I haven't played it in, well, a year.

Sorry the sample is so messy, I picked a random community fort save and that's what I got, I can't stand displayed engraved walls like that. I'm making a 12x12 tileset too.

9x9 is where it's at.

I'd be up for another succession game. They usually don't go so well though.

40d ♥♥♥♥♥ mode here. Don't really feel like going through the hassle of learning all the new ways of how military dorfs are used.

That's my main problem too. I learnt to play in 40d, so I have no idea how the army works nowadays. ^^

Oh you mean Dorf Fortress? Yep. Not a lot right now, kind of waiting for the new version to pop out. I also draw silly MS Paint comics pertaining to it and tangential topics. Start from result 72 (because it's fun to see my stickmen going from completely horrid to slightly less completely horrid, along with my attitude going from "hi guys i'm new plz" to "darp darp") if you're interested. Actually, read all 175 pages of that thread, it is made of glory and awesome. Dorf Fortress lends itself extremely well to drawing comics of the action, since it's barely even depicted.

Also yeah, the army in 0.31 is a right nightmare to figure out. I managed out of necessity, since i once had an elf ambush on my fort. Their puny-ass wooden weapons lost to DORFEN FISTCRAFT.
