Wait, there is now. Planetside was (well, is) a massively multiplayer online FPS that makes the round-based matches of Battlefield and other titles look trivial. This is persistent, massive warfare, with thousands of players per side fighting over dozens of bases over hundreds of kilometers of terrain for hours, all around the clock. There is simply no other experience like it, at all, and it's incredibly hard to sum up. The sequel is due to hit beta sometime this year. I'm just going to sum up my feelings with this: This user wished to express their enthusiasm for Planetside 2 but used an annoying macro gif featuring ponies to do so. All the footage from GDC is now up (well, has been since last night), with a little bonus footage. Planetside Universe also has some bits of info from a Q&A session; http://www.planetside-universe.com/p-gd ... qa-102.htm There's also the official twitter feed and PSU twitter feed, which have lots more info on the game - links to other media coverage and such. If I could sprite actors and weapons properly, I'd probably take a shot at making a set of Planetside mods for Cortex Command... |

yeah i got a priority access beta key but my computer is too awful for me to even consider trying to run the game |

I got a key in PC Gamer. And I have a PC to run it. Also Planetside 2 is going to be Free to Play. I am having trouble keeping my keyboard un-sticky. |

What you did there, I see it. Looks mighty cool and sounds like a fun concept, seems kinda like EVE except FPS, at least the all inclusive world aspect. |

I think Planetside 2 will lend itself more to smaller skirmishes and rolling battles with more fighting to control the territory between bases and the supply lines- most of what you'd see in the first game was the mass-fights for the bases with dozens players on each side; fighting outside bases only flared up at towers and the occasional bridge. Terrain was there to look pretty/slow down advances, and most people only saw large swathes of it from the passenger seat of a Galaxy. Planetside is absolutely unique in the world of MMO and FPS gaming. There is simply nothing that can compare to the kind of things you'll see happening in game, and it's one of those games you'll always have good stories about to trade with other players. And hey, might as well try getting more attention for my Planetside CC Factions mod requests thread whilst I'm here. |

Dauss you're doing gods work. I was quite hyped about this game a while ago, but ever since I preordered Borderland two that hype just kinda faded. Still looks like a very cool game though. |
