Post FleetProgression
I mentioned this in the lounge passingly, but now it's a bit more polished so I suppose I'll join the herd of budding developers posting in Gaming and pimp my "game".

If you've ever played ProgressQuest then you'll know generally how this works (but in SPACE!)

How to play this amazingly rendered classic? Quite simple really, you start it up and let it run.

After downloading the client from the scoreboard, start that bugger up and select File -> Create fleet to get started.
Your captain's name is your unique identifier, and your fleet name is analogous to a Guild in any other MMO. You can change the fleet name as you like to join up with friends or split off into your own fleet under the controls tab on your client.
Each client can hold up to 20 captains running at once, from 0 to 19, and will automatically start them the next time you launch the .jar.
The client creates a load.txt in the same directory it is run in and also saves each captain's data to a .flt file in the same directory.

Feel free to post bug reports and feature requests, though note that I'm going to be busy for the next few weeks and might not get around to doing anything.

MiniFAQ:
  • Can I run the client offline?
Yes. The client will continue to attempt updates (which might cause some debug output if you run the client from a terminal) but no data will be lost. The next time you're online and the client attempts to update, your data will be sent.
  • Do races/planets/fleets affect my stat gains?
Nope, races and planets are entirely cosmetic, and fleet selection only affects the fleet view on the scoreboard (which is still in progress, I'm not entirely sure what to rank groups by yet).
  • Where's the graphics?!
Graphics? You don't see them? Oh right, the icon is uh, a work in progress to say the least. Anyone want to donate something? :D

Pretty useful little thing to keep running while I browse the net.

Any possibility of custom ranks/titles for use on the scoreboard?

In the future I hope to continue to expand the race and planet selections, as well as add new weapons and whatnot. Custom ranks and titles however will not be included, as they are race specific. I might include a "boring" race that has no title though, so you could essentially make up your own in your captain's name.

I have a bug to report.

I can't load my save.

I click the file, click open, and nothing happens.

You should probably fix that.
I use 7zip, as far as I know, 7zip doesn't encode it any weird way that would cause a normal computer to bluescreen.

Err... Right, whatever. Sure.

I got it working, and I could recreate the blue screen. It appeared when I had like used all my RAM.
