Community fortress in Dwarf Fortress!

Since the new version is a day or a week away, let's get this stuff prepared.

So basically, we take turns playing a fort and trying to avoid complete disasters, and then ship the savefile to the next player.
Perhaps keep some actual log (forum posts) of events. Silly dwarven roleplay optional.

I don't really know how long turns we should have, I think that perhaps 1 ingame year maximum and maybe 6 actual days to play your turn.
Share your opinion. I think that more important is a restriction in real days, to keep things smooth.


Those who don't want to play directly can book themselves a dwarf out of the 7 starters, and later on from immigrants.
Either tell the exact stuff you'd like or just if you'd like a combat/medical/useless bum dwarf.
If we get unused dwarves, perhaps the actual players could have ones once their turn ends.


How's this gonna work? Anyone actually wanna play?

(Oh, and I'd like that people try to avoid at least the most blatant glitch abuse such as infinite energy waterwheels or atom-disintergrating bridges.)
Adittionally, when sharing saves, should we cut out the raws included in the save file and have the next person copy them manually in there?

I wish to be one of the starting guys. Do I get to choose what my guy's skills are, or do I just get the pleasure of seeing him dismembered by a crocodile?

I'm going to be generous and grant you a quarantee about both of those!


But yeah, if you want a dwarf, feel free to suggest skills, maybe some preferred equipment. Just take already chosen dwarves into account, so we dont end up with a fortress of 7 miners.

Personally I'd prefer something like:
Miner / something (medical skills?)
Mason / carpenter
Woodcutter / axesoldier
Mechanic / architecth / stone detailer
Metalsmith
Hunter / marksdwarf
Cook / brewer

But yeah, those are just some general quidelines. Jeweler, butcher, crafter, manager, etc. etc. would all be useful. Let's see what'll we get.

Make sure the Military Commander is female and name her "Rain Silves".

Unwoundpath, brewer(3pts), (is trader a thing? if so 2pts), cook(2pts), and farmer (3pts), and is trader is not an option, fisherman(2pts)

Oh, and sell the anvil in Embark so you have enough points to distribute skills to all of the dwarves.
