Hey, DataRealms-ers. I've been watching the indie dev team Wolfire for about 4 years now and they recently posted on their blog a neat "bundle" where you pay what you want for 5 indie games. It's pretty nice and includes World of Goo, Aquaria, Gish, Lugaru, and Penumbra: Overture. All of the games are DRM-free and cross-platform. And to top it all off, you can choose where your money is split up and sent to between the developers and two charity organizations. Too bad Cortex Command couldn't have been in the bundle.

Check it out: http://wolfire.com/humble

Very, very nice of these guys. I don't see Activision, EA or UbiSoft doing something like this anytime soon.
Independent Developers are good people.

The Humble Indie Bundle!

Note: This is much more awesome and much less humble than the name might suggest.

GASP.

But eh. I said it myself, this deserves it's own thread.

So, anyone buying? I bought it for $45 splitting the money mainly to the devs.

I got it, Aquaria, Lugaru, and Gish are fun, World of Goo is litte less fun, and Penumbra is too tense for me-They tell you to turn off your lights, bring the brightness of your monitor down so you can hardly see an image, and tell you to put your monitors contrast all the way up.

Oh man I love Penumbra.

If you think the first one is scary, you should get Black Plague.
No weapons, or any real way of fighting back.
I finished Overture, but I haven't got very far through Black Plague, it is that much more terrifying.

Also, I loved the ending of Overture, there is a note at the end that I found incredibly touching, probably one of my favourite gaming moments ever.

Also, it is worth mentioning, that if you buy the bundle, Frictional Games (makers of Penumbra) are offering the sequel and mini sequel on the cheap.

You'd be less damaging if you'd just get the games from someone who's already bought it because of bandwidth costs, etc...

I already have penumbra and don't much care for it, but I loved the gish demo, and I liked tower of goo, so what the hell, why not, while it's so cheap (by means of me being so cheap).
That was a very snappy yet smooth transaction via google checkout...
Aaaand I'm downloading at a reasonable rate.
