Looking back in search I remember stating that after my exams in 2008 I'd start playing again - turns out I lied. Now I'm going to get myself some money and a new laptop that appears to be able to handle even the recommended specs for eve I HOPE to get started again and I was wondering if anyone a) plays it, or b) is interested enough to play the 14 day trial.

From what I remember I was stuck in a stupid corporation swallowed up by a bunch of cunts that didn't tell us anything, and that assaulting a POS that had a couple of capital ships docked inside was smart. So I stopped.

But I have a nice expensive battleship capable of running through Level 4s, but I want to take a look at the whole exploration and wormholey things that have been added. I mean look at the map, it's ♥♥♥♥ huge, I don't know where to start without getting the crap blown out of me by people fighting for territory or blowing the crap out of people just for kicks. The possibilities are huge, that's for sure.

The whole thing's one big shard, unlike WoW there's regularly roughly 40,000 players on - maybe 50k at peak times. ♥♥♥♥ loads of stuff to do, trade, invest, research and manufacture, mine, do storylines, work for agents, fight for the npc races, be a pirate and ransom/blow ♥♥♥♥ up, courier, haul freight etc.

Arguably being part of a corporation and running your own space station is the be all and end all, because running back and forth from market hubs (Player driven pretty much) in convoys to supply your army/space station combines it all together - there's all this exploration stuff that I want to check out, finding wormholes that go to uncharted space.

Ideally I want to find a niche where I can bag myself half a billion isk a month so I don't have to pay for it using real monies.

EDIT: Oh yeah, each dot on that map is a system, each with about 70 moons, 5/6 planets, 10ish asteroid belts, There's an item list of parts, blueprints, materials and trade goods that would take you hours to browse through.

Thing is, you can pay for a time card/pilot licence extension with in game money, you just need 500mill of it. So say a group of players decided to try manufacturing/missioning on a regular basis, you could probably stump up the cash to keep it going, but it would need considerable effort to do so. Besides, you never know when I'm going to be drunk and paid on IRC again.
