Post Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days
Alright so, I was a fan of the first game. This might make me a minority in that regard, but I really did enjoy it.

So when I heard the second one was coming out, I was mildly anticipating it.

Then I saw this trailer, and now I am genuinely excited. If they can keep this kind of atmosphere for the final product and retain the nerve wracking (In a good way,) multiplayer, I'm sold.

Let us discuss.

The main reason that most people don't very much like Kane and Lynch is because it's got pretty terrible gameplay and it's generally known as the game that killed/delayed Freedom Fighters 2.

But that means everyone's going to try to inflict even more crotch-hits than usual O_o

I take it you're enjoying it, then?

Yeah. I don't understand all the reviewer hate over it, I think everyone is still just pissy over that one guy getting fired or whatever.

Honestly, the game play is pretty cool, even on easy (My computer can't quite handle the game requirements, set it to easy to avoid getting shot to ♥♥♥♥ while I'm fighting through the FPS lag to line up a shot.) the enemies are a handful. They'll shoot you right in the face for an instant kill if you try to charge them head on for human shields, followed by you hitting the floor with a nice pixelated censorship over your face just to drive home the fact that, yeah, it wasn't the wisest thing trying to grab a guy with a revolver leveled at your nose.

The controls are horrible, both of the main characters are just as shallow as packman.
The graphics glitch every 20 seconds. The camera is so realistic it makes you motion sick.

OH AND 2 NAKED DUDES RUNNING AROUND.

Why is this game so novel, why must you get teabagged for getting a YASD.

If you insist. I never had a problem with them. I guess the cover system was a little erratic? I just crouched and stuff, worked fine for me.

Disagree. Lynch, maybe, he's got backstory but the developers never commit to it. Kane on the other hand has a lot of interesting backstory if you listen to his dialog, I think he's great.

If you're talking about the intended Guy-Filming-Over-Your-Shoulder-With-A-10-Dollar-Camcorder thing, that can be turned off. So can the camera shake.

This is a problem?

You spelled Pacman wrong.

On-topic, based on Dauss' undying love for this game, I may need to give the demo a go.

I mean the part where I get vertical purple stripes. And strange edges around characters.

Damn spelled pac man wrong.... shame on me.

I enjoy the silliness of the whole situation. And shooting people feels more "realistic" than most games.

Post Re: Kane and Lynch 2: Dog Days
I just had a moment.

I was shooting some cops after a heist and had the need to reload and move at the same time while reloading. My character did so while limping from being hurt and while looking away from some debris in an almost humane fashion. After reloading I started fending off the police once again from cover and the way he leaned to the side while shooting made me think "holly ♥♥♥♥, this is the most realistic shooter I've played".

Then I got a bit nauseous while the character ran, but still.

DO NOT BELIEVE REVIEWER LIES. This game is awesome.

I just had the most immersing experience in it I've had in a video game for all of 2010.

I was playing arcade mode, which tasks you and a handful of other AI controlled criminals to rob various settings across Shanghai. In this particular level, we had to 'liberate' a high rise office buildings servers of valuable harddrives that the client wanted. Being better than my AI teammates, I obviously grabbed the most loot, roughly 1.5 million dollars worth, but I still had to escape and police and security were flooding the scene.

Now, the thing about arcade mode (And the human multiplayer version, Fragile Alliance), is that you're playing as criminals. Ideally, everyone gets along and we split the loot (Which nets you upgrades in rank and weaponry). But if someone isn't pulling their weight, say... Someone hasn't grabbed any actual loot... If they escape too, they get a share as well. And for what, hanging back and letting the rest of us do the heavy lifting? Yeah, ♥♥♥♥ that.

As my hard working teammates fight and die beside me against the police, I notice a fraction of the 'team' hanging back, 3 of them, perhaps 10,000 dollars of loot between them. I.E. ♥♥♥♥ All. I make a mental note, as we clear the room, and I pick up our fallen comrades loot, boosting mine to well over 2 million. Eventually 2 of them found their spines, moving up to attack as we carved an escape route through the law. Sadly it was not to last, as a sniper picked off one of them and the other played quick draw with the Chinese equivalent of a SWAT officer turning a corner and lost. Their loot combined, picked from their bodies, brought me to about 3 million, as they'd picked some up from the earlier guys who went down.

3 million is a lot of cash.

As I continued to shoot my way up the stairwells to the roof, nearly to the helipad, I noticed again the last guy alive, one of the three hanger backs, still with not a dollar to his name. I took a little off the top from the last cop in sight, and he sprinted past me to the helipad stairs.

I was not going to let this bastard escape and take half my hard earned ♥♥♥♥.

I dropped to one knee, switched to my semiauto rifle, and put two in his ribs before he made it half way up the stairs.

Now alone, and seemingly home free, I made a break for it, dashing past my cowardly former teammate, when the cops came from behind. I ran as they tried to pick me off, but I made it to the helipad.

"IF YOU DON'T GET A CHOPPER HERE NOW, I'M ♥♥♥♥ DEAD..." my character screamed into his radio with a thick Australian accent, conveying dire urgency. (Seriously, I love the voice acting. Top notch stuff.)

'IN A SECOND IN A SECOND!' the Chinese chopper pilot screamed back, as I saw him coming in on the horizon.

I turned to the helipad. 6 Chinese SWAT officers (Reincarnated teammates, put to work to stop the rest of us from escaping.) ran up the opposite staircase with assault rifles.

MAC10 in hand, I sprayed. 3 of them dropped dead. The other 3 plugged me, I fell backwards to the floor. I wasn't dead yet.

The chopper tilted in, dropping his ladder. The 3 remaining cops began emptying their magazines into it in an attempt to force it to leave me behind. I slapped a new magazine into my SMG, emptying the whole thing at them. 2 more met their end, the third only wounded. He turned to finish me off...

I'd already swapped to my semiauto rifle. Laying on my back on the ground, one handing the weapon as he leveled his assault rifle at me, I shot, the bullet going wild and tearing through his kneecap. The chopper countdown timer blinked down to 3 seconds as I pulled myself to my feet and limped to the ladder and climbed in. As the chopper flew away, in a completely non-scripted sequence, the helipad was flooded with the rest of the Chinese SWAT, and they tried to take down the already damaged chopper as it pulled away.

I emerged 3 million dollars richer that day.

This game is awesome.
