Let's see... How in the world can I describe this game? Uhm.. I guess it's kinda like Fallout (the original) + Diablo 2 + Team Fortress 2 graphics + Unreal Engine 3 + procedural weapon generation That's right. Guns are randomly generated. Rocket shotguns, exploding pistols, all kinds of wacky indescribable things. It also has PhysX, though I have no idea how it uses it. Oh, and I can't forget the dozens of references to popular things... Copypasta from Steam: Quote: Lock, Load, & Face the Madness Get ready for the mind blowing insanity! Play as one of four trigger-happy mercenaries and take out everything that stands in your way! With its addictive action, frantic first-person shooter combat, massive arsenal of weaponry, RPG elements and four-player co-op, Borderlands is a breakthrough experience that challenges all the conventions of modern shooters. Borderlands places you in the role of a mercenary on the lawless and desolate planet of Pandora, hell-bent on finding a legendary stockpile of powerful alien technology known as The Vault. Role Playing Shooter (RPS) - combines frantic first-person shooting action with accessible role-playing character progression Co-Op Frenzy - Fly solo in single player or drop in and out with up to 4 Player Co-Op online and offline for a maniacal multiplayer experience Bazillions of Guns - Gun lust fulfilled with rocket-launching shotguns, enemy-torching revolvers, SMGs that fire lightning rounds, and tons more Radical Art Style - New visual style combines traditional rendering techniques with hand-drawn textures to create a unique and eye-catching spin on the First Person genre Intense Vehicular Combat - Get behind the wheel and engage in intense vehicle-to-vehicle combat System Requirements OS: Windows XP/Vista Processor: 2.4 Ghz or equivalent processor Memory: 1GB System RAM (2GB recommended with Vista) Graphics: 256mb video ram or better (GeForce 8 series or higher/Radeon R8xx series) Hard Drive: 8 GB or more free space Sound: Windows compatible sound card If you own it through Steam, hit me up with a friend invite at jaybud4 |

Just watched some videos of it, and it looks pretty awesome. Though those numbers that appear every time you shoot someone make me a bit angry. |

Preordered a four-pack with some buddies on Steam, so come Monday I'll be getting this. We should do a DRL get-together with this sometime. |

BLaAAAaaagh I've been waiting for this game for so long. Want so bad. This and Rage, which is a bit more serious looking and has some fantastic looking character design. Borderlands also has some pretty spiffy cover art: |

Hyperkultra wrote: Boom headshot. It looks like a post-apocolypse version of Shook's Nukehead. Also, Rage looks like Bioshock Fallout 3 WITH CARS. Procedurally generated guns: Does it pick an ammo type, grip, muzzle, gun type, and a special feature and put it in the Gun Blender? Or what parts are they made of? |

There appear to be various 'companies' for the game which each make special sorts of guns, and each has a color (S&S uses yellow for example, also S&S specializes in "this gun deals 50% more damage than normal" type stuff), but aside from that I don't know how the actual parts to the guns work, though I didn't really pay attention to the models. I was too busy numbercrunching on pistols and SMGs to bother looking at the models themselves that often. |
