   |   Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a threadI believe I shall call this unqualified success . Three "uninvited guests" and a cyclops and I'm still doing fine. Second great hall is on the way, and this time I'm going to floor it with zinc along with the engravings.

   |   Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a threadShould I be able to get some magma on a site with an aquifer and solid rock? I've dug about 20 levels and nothing yet.

   |   Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a threadSome people have magma at 10 z levels, some people have it at 150-250. Depends on the site.

   |   Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a threadYes, excellent story. The fact that those stories can exist in DF is why I like it so much.

God damn.Ive never actually needed a army in my game, Except for peace keeping in the fort. My location serves as a very good natural defense. To be precise, Im embedded in the side of a canyon wall, at the only passable point, which is a drawbridge. Im surrounded by water at the bottem of the canyon, and lots of stone. Mostly Microcline, but there is ore too on the surface. Think this is my best starting location, I plan to turn the lower floors near the water into a farm.

   |   Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a threadwhat part of it annoys you? I've always found it fairly intuitive, compared to the rest of the interface anyway.

   |   Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a threadI really like the simplicity of the old one, it was made by an extremely simple premise of selecting some guys to stand somewhere and/or attack something. Now it's swelled with bloat, namely the kill order that you must give for them to do anything. (even though I must admit that the presets for the load out are pretty useful)
And the sheriff doesn't seem to bother maintaining the peace within the fortress, he just wanders around asking for an office.

   |   Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a threadCan still do move orders quickly, and making patrols is better now. Grab some wiki-knowhow.
