Re: Left 4 Dead
I know, that's how my "too lazy to pre-order" friends will be playing with me tomorrow.
Anyway, reading the .txt files, I can read the scripts for all the dialogue!
For example, in the Death Toll campaign, the people on the escape boat are called John and Amanda Slater.

Re: Left 4 Dead
Double post lol.
Been playing the demo.
Words cannot describe the awesome, it's everything we've always wanted.
And this is just single player with sucky bots.
Waiting for friends to finish downloading.

Re: Left 4 Dead
So far so great
Make sure to set sv_lan to 0 if you want to host a game. I've had to do it tonight because of the lack of good servers. I dunno why it's not default disabled. Also yay for fast updates, valve listened to our complaints and came up with the goods, now we can browse game servers instead of using the lame match maker

Re: Left 4 Dead
Valve rocks, patching a demo the day it's released, Far Cry 2 took months for a patch that barely fixed any of the huge problems.
How exactly do we browse servers?
Other than typing "viewserverbrowser" in the console?

Re: Left 4 Dead
Ok, having played the demo non-stop for 2 days, I'll give my impressions.
Easy is EASY, I mean I completed the first level using only the melee attack of the medpack.
The game does get a little old after playing the same 2 levels over and over, but the director works well, and it really comes alive playing with friends on Expert.
The game is REALLY intense, it feels like drowning in adrenaline. I find myself having little breaks every now and again just to calm down.
Matchmaking is kinda balls at the moment, but I can see the reasoning behind it, and I'm sure it'll be working fine and people will have accepted it by Christmas at the latest.
Splitscreen on PC is possible if you have an X-box 360 controller.
And some people have managed to get counterstrike maps working with it, and the director managed to set it up with zombies with no changes to the map whatsoever, so I daresay modding will be fairly prevalent for the game.
I hope to play with you guys when the public demo comes out on the 11th.
Just be glad the wait means you didn't have to experience matchmaking while it was insanely buggy. Valve is great for patching a demo though.

Re: Left 4 Dead
Fun, indeed. The passive zombie AI is more passive than I'd prefer, the shotgun is somewhat overpowered in my view, and I'm somewhat disappointed that they nixed the merit/demerit system.
Also, awesome game, especially on expert, which I haven't yet been able to convince a rational human being to try with me.

Re: Left 4 Dead
I was playing around on expert last night; I got used as tankbait quite a lot. Very, very, very fun game. I can't wait for the full version to unlock so I can finish No Mercy and play the other movies.

Re: Left 4 Dead
Witches are too weak.
I'd rather fight ten witches than a tank.
Witches OHK, true, but tanks take a lot longer to kill and are more of a pain in the ass.

Re: Left 4 Dead
This is why the Tank gets his own themetune.
Witch is pretty much a guaranteed kill on the guy who disturbed her.
I agree with you that after that she shouldn't run off like a child after that, she should stick around to kill the rest of the team.
