Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a thread
I don't play DF2010 so much anymore, except adventuring. It just.... Isn't so fun anymore. I don't know why.
But now I got myself into 23a, the last 2d DF. Oh god I love this.

Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a thread
Sorry for the double post, but I just found HFS. Also, the military system of DF2010 is so confusing. Barely got my first squad to use practise weapons and start training. Also, I found adamantine and SPOILER magma sea and eerie glowing pit. SPOILER

Scheduling and ordering them to attack is easier, but I cant figure out how to get them to train.

You have to designate a barracks to be a training ground by going to the barracks, Q and then t.

The new military system I found pretty intuitive, actually. It just takes a lot longer than the old system, I think toady needs to put in a "you you go grab an axe and kill something" menu, like "quick recruit" or whatever.

I've found that most ASCII games are like that, but few are as rewarding as DF, however some of the controls are botched in the current version. That'll be fixed eventually though.

So uh is it bad if I neglect my guys when they demand their own rooms?

Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a thread
Depending on whatever else you've neglected, It could turn out very bad.
If this is the first thing, not much could go wrong, but if they've been demanding food, water, shelter, medics, beds, chairs, tables... You could get a tantrum spiral.
EDIT: Unless they've got a dorm or a barracks, they shouldn't get that much of a negative thought...

I prefer to have a room for every civilian, big barracks for soldiers. No problems so far.
