Re: Duh102's Minecraft server
Infinite Levels are going faster than expected. Hoo rah. Fog is still bloked, long distances from the origin are screwy, and levels are still bland, but it so far works. Let's hope the pace keeps up.

Notch is not human
there's simply no way
I mean, yeah, maybe I'm just used to data's development schedule, but, seriously
making a game with, (within the limits of standard hardware) an infinite procedurally generated world with seamless transitions between areas
what the ♥♥♥♥
I'm pretty sure that's quite literally a world first

The only problem with this is that, if you travel to far and build something, you probably will not find it again, unless you put landmarks.

Re: Duh102's Minecraft server
First, there were constructions. Then custom maps came along, and there were Mega constructions. Now, with infinite space to work in, we can have Ultra constructions.

At least, I dug through a couple dirt blocks. Also, I kinda sorta accidentally maybe flooded your lab's basement. Edit: Deflooded

Re: Duh102's Minecraft server
I meant you can't actually get anything from the blocks. Yeah, probably should have been a bit more specific... Only wood tools, etc.

Yeah, unless I'm missing something you can't get any resources from the environment at the moment. You can make anything you like out of wood though.

Re: Duh102's Minecraft server
So yeah, I just figured out crafting. DAMN SON THIS IS AWESOME!
I made a huge forest map and make a single block of fire near my starting base... Let's just say that I've relocated to the opposite side of the map and there is a huge incoming wall of fire.

Re: Duh102's Minecraft server
I love making Floating/Wooded/Deep/Huge maps. Finding a way to the other islands is great (especially if you don't reload).
