Re: Minecraft Infdev succession
That was from 17~ hours ago, when he was doing some streaming from Minecraft. Livecaster can take a stream and save it for replaying later while you're offline, I guess Notch did that will every stream he's done. EDIT: FFFFFFFFFFF

Re: Minecraft Infdev succession
Also, from the blog post it sounds like 28 players takes about a gig of RAM. Right now, with the two minecraft servers running on it, my server uses about 750MB/2Gig available (sadly the minecraft servers only account for about 100 of that) so I should be able to fit 30-32 concurrent users on. And that's if you're all WHEEEEEEEEEEE EXPLORING all the time.
Furthermore, whitelisting. I don't know of Notch has it implemented in the server yet (or a scripting interface) and I doubt there are any server wrappers out for it yet, so for the meantime you'll just have to deal with anyone who's not from DRL or not on invite. I might be able to piece together a whitelisting script if Notch keeps the players.txt and the ability to send the server commands from terminal, but I have little experience and it would be at least a day or two before it would work (in all likelihood).

Re: Minecraft Infdev succession
Sounds good and fine. I'm keen to waste some time with this this weekend. I might bring some non-DRL friends, possibly. Multiplayer looks like I should play it at least once, I've got a lot of coursework at the moment but still, it sounds epic.

Re: Minecraft Infdev succession
jesus the stats on minecraft are really astounding sometimes first: according to the info on the stats page, approximately 74,923 paying customers played minecraft in the last twenty four hours that's a full twenty five percent of the registered player base, of whom TWELVE AND A HALF PERCENT (a ludicrous success rate for a product) have purchased the game minecraft addiction is both real and statistically verified. I mean, if a quarter of your player base has played within the last twenty four hours, that is MUY BUENO. plus, 37371 sales is a lot of dough. I mean, a lot.

About 50% of which goes to his gov't, but still, lots of money. Notch hit a goldmine, and he brought his iron pick.
