I'm not entirely incompetent, that was the first thing I checked.

I want to know weather the larch crown with a picture of itself on it's image has the respective image occurring recursively oh god that's a syntactic nightmare.

I work a Mcd's, and the morning is going on normally, then the fry vat starts smoking. a lot. then we start smelling chemical fire. somebody opens the door on the bottom, and some flames start billowing out. everybody's freaking out, and the only manager on shift still sane enough to talk doesnt know how to use a fire extinguisher. We ended up hitting the kill switch for all of the kitchen, so no more mcdonalds for the next few hours. I thought they had emergency extinguishers for that, some kinda blue foam or something. Like, press a button, step back, and hold your breath while the stuff goes everywhere. Or is my mind making that up...

Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a thread
Well that was "fun". I goblin ambush of about 3 or so gobs run in and I think "ok my guys have been trained in wrestling and dodging and stuff, they should be alright".
♥♥♥♥ WRONG.
10 dorfs charge in wearing nothing more than smatterings of Kosth Coasde's blood with NO WEAPONS OF ANY KIND. They proceed to be horribly mangled without laying a scratch on the goblins.
Thankfully, a liaison with full copper armour and armament was buzzing around. He killed them all in like three seconds flat then left unhappily or something.
Now I have 5 or 6 of my best warriors dead and several more horribly wounded. Its going to start an unhappiness chain and augh. This game is dumb.

Why are goblins suddenly overpowered to an outrageous degree? Is this a bug like the bronze colosus thing?

Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a thread
They aren't, really. My guys were trying to hump them to death, that's all.
UPDATE
It turns out some of the gobbos attacked the humans who were wandering about, killing a cook and injuring a small child. The small child began to fight with another small child and then the liaison ran one through with his spear.

Like, press a button, step back, and hold your breath while the stuff goes everywhere. Or is my mind making that up... There is, they're just pointed at the top of the vats, wheras this fire took place underneath the oil in that stupid sealed-yet-well-ventilated metal compartement. using those systems would result in a shitload of contaminated oil and the fire would've remained protected. The best part was that manager kneeling within two feet of the fire once the power was gone armed with his newfound knowledge of the fire extinguisher and the trainer was flipping different switches on the electrical board because they aren't labeled. "click"..."NOPE"..."click"..."NOPE"..."click"..."spark" "OHSHIT" "FOOOOOSH"... What had happened was that over the years the grease and grime had slowly worn away at the plastic coating on the wires and when they cleaned the filter it was put back a little damp so the water caused a minor short which then sparked and hit the congealed grease below, causing havok. EDIT: @natti nice picture, very representitive of the game

Re: Dwarf Fortress - It's about time there's a thread
I never get far enough to need it. The caverns consume my attention until A goblin ambush comes and wipes me out. And the lack of proper squares is infuriating.

This is even worse than the last version. I'm going to go play SFIV or MW2.
Mainstream FTW
