It's what I've always said; "Survival MP is coming in two weeks from now."

Depends on what he considers very powerful. DuhDRL and DuhTesting are both hosted on the same physical server, which is a Core2Duo dual core @1.6GHz with 2GB of RAM.

It seems that if you have ten people and set them off into the wild, the amount of map having to be rendered/sent/whatever is high and takes up a lot of ram.

It seems like it's going to be infdev except with limited, yet very large, maps.

I don't see any huge problem with SMP so long as we agree to conform to reasonable limits. If most people are focused on infrastructure development/our huge townbasecitadel/resource gathering then it's not gonna be a huge issue.

Plus, we can always whitelist the server. And by we, I mean duh.

Explorers hopefully keep to moderation.

Whitelisting isn't just a convenience, it's a must.

Anyway, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it. In the meantime assume that everything will turn out alright with Great Mother Duh at the helm.

EDIT: OH YEAH
Server side scripting from Notch.

Duh, you need to start generating names for the mountainhomes.
Ideally names with nothing morbid or foreboding in them, but it's your server, go crazy.

And now high(er)-res textures. THIS WEEKEND HAS OFFICIALLY AWESOME'D.

Here's the textures for terrain and art, if you want to insert them yourself, or I have the .jar for the offline client.

@Pete: I will start up DF presently.

EDIT: I got a perfect one two randoms in. Rûlstal, Submergebust. Alternatively, Stizashmomuz, The Kindled Crypt.
