Started playing today, decked out my little Soviet tank with all the upgrades possible. I kind of don't want to spend more money upgrading another completely different tank just to move up to a medium or heavy, is there a way to skip that?

Anyways I ♥♥♥♥ up the American tier 1s. Those things suck ass. The german Tier 1 is pretty decent though.

Upgrading to go up tiers is sort of unavoidable. Though you can still play your older tanks while you wait for your newer tanks to get out of battles.

American Tier 1's are pretty decent, they just suk balls at close range. The good thing is that they can immediately research a heavy tank.

Post Re: World of Tanks
The T1 Heavy is a deceptive tank. It's really only effective against Tier 4 or below tanks. Can't even match itself.

The KV tank in the Russian line is a brawler at Tier 5 and below. I heard the Tiger is a piece of crap to drive around. Super weak mantle armor and module damage with every shot.

American tanks are pretty much in the experimental phase currently. They have some odd variations. The Stuart tank can have a 75mm cannon on it for whatever reason. The T57 (tier II SPG) is a crap artillery piece, but an excellent tank destroyer.

If you enjoy light tanks you won't go up very high in the tiers, but more or less the absolute best light tank is the Leopard. German tier IV light. It is the bane of artillery and a joy to friendly SPGs. However it has large tracks which are easy to shoot. The Russian T-46 light tank is also a very very good tank. But, it is a light tank so you CAN NOT trade punches with other tanks. Gotta keep moving.

Medium tanks vary greatly. The Russians have incredible medium godtanks such as the T-44 and T-54 but they take forever and a day to grind up on. The Germans have their VK line (VK 3001, VK DB) and then they get the Panther and Panther II. They're good tanks in their own right, but for some reason they break very easily. Not sure why. American mediums are proving to be pretty nifty. I know from experience that the Pershing is a ♥♥♥♥♥ to take out. But, since the low American tiers are such hell to play, almost no one goes that route.

Heavy tanks are a popular choice for obvious reasons. Land battlecruisers are just fun. Lots of choices this way. Russian KV, KV-3 and the IS line is the common choice. I gotta say, IS-3 and IS-4 are pretty incredible. Fast, maneuverable and powerful to boot. German heavies are pretty nice but they always seem to have problems whenever I face them. Must be a German thing. Anyways, the Tiger tank isn't really as legendary as some people would like it to be. The Tiger II is easy to lose money on (as Allstone said) and the VK 4502 Ausf. B is a pretty awesome tank, but it draws massive amounts of fire wherever it pops up. The Maus is a joke. Takes a whole match to drive across the field, and every tank against it will take potshots. American heavy tanks are proving themselves exceptionally worthy, though. Anything besides the T1 will take a beating and keep fighting. They all have nice armor, good guns and acceptable maneuverability.

So there is my unsolicited WoT information.

I got the Pzkpfw 35(t), but only because I was having fun upgrading my lawltraktor.

I have no idea which rout I'm going down yet, I'm still learning the ropes, really. I've noticed an improvement in me, though.
