Re: Best PS2 games of all time?
Black was pretty damn impressive for a ps2 game, in terms of graphics.

(The reason why they don't have many two disk games anymore is that blu-rays for PS3 games can hold TONS of bytes.)

Get an Xbox. They needed about a thousand of their shitty floppy discs or whatever those dinosaurs use to run one of those Final Fantasies.
I heard Black was like explosions but not much else.

That's true, game looked great. Was kinda samey after the first 3 missions and the last one was horribly hard and not in the satisfying way, just in the annoying way.

My point was that Star Ocean has a stupendous amount of depth. Contrary wrote: Get an Xbox. Everyone knows Xbox only has shooters and boobs. p3lb0x wrote: That's true, game looked great. Geti wrote: Oh god I just remembered that "star ocean : till the end of time" was on the PS2 for a while. If you can get a second hand copy from somewhere it's a freaking amazing game. Like, so good. 2 Disks (why don't they do that anymore?) of pure cool. Had an alright battle system too, but still random battles for a while if I remember correctly. It was pretty A+, had a lot of endings and like 80 hours or so of gameplay with cutscenes etc. It's really deep, but you kind of need to like RPGs to enjoy it. Eh, I almost finished it when I was younger. Got passed the whole "omegezzle we are simulation that accidentally whole fourth dimension" part, so most of the shock and awe factor would be gone if I played it again. Contrary wrote: Get an Xbox. I'm not really sure if you're being sarcastic or not, so I'll just nod in a neutral manner and ignore this statement.

Wow you guys trollin me? Hah. Pretty good.
In any case I suggest you try Suikoden III. It's a good RPG. TBH I didn't actually like FF7 that match. I mean the characters and back story and stuff was kinda nice, but I don't think it was concise enough for my liking.

Almost forgot, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 was the godliest racing game ever. Can't wait for the newest one.

Re: Best PS2 games of all time?
THE best PS2 game of all time? I'd have to say that while GTA:SA and Shadow of the Colossus are all great, I'd have to give that to Okami. First playthrough, I got to the part where you fight Orochi, and I was like, "35 hours so far? Pretty good!" I beat him, saw there was MORE. Beat THAT whole ordeal, and I was like "Dayum, 60 hours? THAT is worth your money!" But there was another 15 hours of the game left for me. First playthrough took 72 hours to beat, all of it fun. Granted, you weren't able to skip any of the lengthy cutscenes, but the second playthrough (when I had all the best weapons) still took about 50 hours, and that was only PARTIALLY because you can skip cutscenes in subsequent playthroughs. The reduced time was mostly because I had weapons that could instantly kill most common enemies and I just raped everything else.
But yeah, it had tons of sidequests, a damn good story, BEAUTIFUL visuals - loved the art style, and it had great character depth. Plus, it was just plain FUN. The brush gameplay was interesting, and there were a wide variety of enemies to kick ass. Additionally, after your first two playthroughs you still probably don't have all the sun shards, beads, and you've probably missed a FEW other things.
So yeah, top PS2 game for me? Definitely Okami.

Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. Graphics aren't too amazing, but player control is not too dissimilar from CC. Guns are also not amazing, but soldier/vehicle/other animate objects all move and kill in fun ways.

That was my first experience in Ragdoll physics, so I had a ridiculous amount of fun.
