You guys describing the randomly generated weapons makes me sad.
I want this game!

How do the RPG elements fit into the game?
And, to get these random weapons, do you mostly find them on dead enemies? Because if so, I do not look forward to fighting for some of these...
Is there randomly generated armour too?

It is an RPG. You have levels and talents. To be honest though it is a little bland for my taste. This is probably a result of being oversaturated with talent point tables from WoW. Going to be completely impossible to please me.

Hopefully people don't start spreadsheeting Borderlands.

I just got the game, and I must say I'm really impressed with it. The absurd (possibly infinite? Perhaps, if you count name and stat differences.) variety of weapons is a great feature, even if you can't really customize your character aside from colouring the clothes. I find the game very enjoyable, and I won't stop playing it any soon, even if I find it a bit too difficult.

About unusual weapons, have anyone here ever tried the T.K. Wave Shotgun? Utterly weak, I know, but I just can't get tired of seeing the shots starting to glow blue and bouncing around the area hitting anyone even remotely near your target.

...Not to mention the auto revolver portable bazooka I found once. THAT was a real weapon. And the scoped hunting shotguns, of course. I bet they could be used as anti-aircraft weaponry, with some luck. :P

Content patch should include armor varieties. The amount of weapon randomization is great. But its randomization, not customization.

Major flaw of the game's model in my opinion.

Sitting there with the Compare screen up is only interesting for a little while, and the novelty of procedurally generated weapon models got old really fast, especially considering how generic most of the models are and how little they vary.

The game has some great design principles that are not executed properly or to the fullest. Great potential, but it falls short in my book. Definitely glad I didn't buy it.

Pretty much everything THOR just said.

After beating the game once, I kind of lost interest in it. The gameplay never really changes, and the game never really gets challenging unless you manage to bypass something and fight enemies two times your level.

It was fun for a while, the art style was... Not that great, but it had a little personality. Ironically enough, the most interesting enemies to fight, the skags, stopped showing up once you passed the first area. Instead of something mildly interesting, like armored heads and mid sections, with legs and mouth as vulnerabilities, you got spiderants. How many times have you seen 'dodge them and shoot them in the back.' in other games before?

Eugh, and don't get me started on the last boss.

ANYWAYS, I'm done with BroLands, I'm going to trade it in and get my 40 dollars store credit while it's still worth something.

Love this game, mostly for the pick up and play style of gameplay. You don't have to devote several hours to play, but most of the time that's how it winds up.

I agree with Dauss on the difficulty front, it is pretty easy single player. Probably the restart+ or whatever will be harder, as will multiplayer (from my limited experience playing co-op).

Co-op with 4 players is hard as ♥♥♥♥.
The enemies are atleast 2-5 levels ahead of you, which makes them really ♥♥♥♥ hard to kill.

Singleplayer is quite challenging in early levels when you can get raped by anything. After you hit level 15, there's no stopping you for most of the time.

This is a western-style RPG. Not an actual RPG. (Of course RPG is a loose term nowadays.)
But from what I have seen I would consider this closer to an Adventure/FPS.

It's stil la role-playing game in the most technical sense.

You have a character with a distinct play-style. It features customizable character development in the form of gear and talents. Go ask the developers, they themselves classify it as a hybrid RPG.

And what do you mean by "western-style?" As far as I know, Dungeons and Dragons is the epitome of role-playing games, and that is pretty western.

You may play characters with specializations, but that alone doesn't make it an RPG. In CC you can play totally different, specialized, characters, like Mia or Brutus, but that doesn't make CC an RPG.

In DnD you have skills for ♥♥♥♥.
In this you have skills for ♥♥♥♥.

In, for example, Final Fantasy you do not. You only have stats, levels, and equipment.

I classify this as a aDnD/FPS, like how Diablo is an aDnD/Adventure IMO.

Anyhow, how fun is it? I checked on ESRB and there is supposed to be a lot of swearing, I personally don't enjoy listening to people swearing every 5 seconds, part of why I sold my copy of Fallout 3.
I am not hypocritical, even though I swore twice in this post, I said listening to.
