Congratulations to the guy who uses sarcasm regularily. Especially on this topic. Take your hypocrism trophy, shut the hell up and give this game a go. :D Anyhow- I just tried a Necromancer Ghoul. It was kind of weird sometimes though- "Do I let this corpse rot so it can be a minion or do I let it rot so I can eat it!?" I ended up getting mauled to death by a snake because my magic refused to work and I was getting chased by everything everywhere. The game told me I needed a wand for spells, but I never had a wand before then and I hadn't dropped anything that could be a wand. So... Maybe a magic scroll screwed me over or something.

Re: Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
Well, I played the game, are you ♥♥♥♥♥es happy?
And yes, it's just a Nethack clone with shiny tiles and a ♥♥♥♥ of races and classes. All the summoning is just gimmicky and shitty.
So yeah, this game sucks. Play a real rogue-like, ladies.
Oh, CRY SOME MORE.

Oh, CRY SOME MORE. Who the ♥♥♥♥ plays with tiles? I don't understand. Playing a roguelike with tiles ruins it.

Oh, CRY SOME MORE. I'm not saying you're wrong, it's perfectly fine to have an opinion, but can I just ask how long you actually played for?

Re: Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
I played through the tutorial, then I played as some ghost necro thing for several Dlvls.
I then checked out a few races and classes before coming to my conclusion (note: fact) that this game sucks.
Day ban for being a foot. Please quit playing into these guys' hands, DRL.

Sarcasm is a device that can be embedded into anything, spoken or written. Had you taken English I, you'd know that. When someone states something in an article or essay that states the obvious, is obviously contradictory, or completely outrageous a good reader would spot that and think "Oh, haha, this guy is being sarcastic! This entry is actually quite funny!" Coded One PM to Ian wrote: But really, ever heard of a troll before? Just keep feeding it. xD u trold me so hrd.

Re: Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
okay, google helped alot. i understand what those games are now. but i hate ascii/text adventure game things. i was never a fan.i checked out some vids of nethack, rogue, roguelike, hack and etc and it all looks primitive to me. but its the 80's i dont blame anybody or anything. i didnt like in nethack how the character moved tiles, and didnt "walk" its like the guy teleported across the room.
tip: when im sarcastic over the internet weather it is on a forum or talking to people in world of warcraft, i always use BBS code. example:
[sarcasm]wow, i just love to listen to the jonas brothers and hannah montanah![/sarcasm]

Re: Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
You really have to have quite the imagination to play anything text-based or with ASCII, which is why normally I limit my sanity-breaking games to Dwarf Fortress, and sometimes Elona.

Re: Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
i found out how to cast a spell but how do use "animate skeleton" as a necromancer? do i need the bones in my inventory or do i have to be standing on the same tile as the corpse? i am VERY confused.

Re: Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
Stand on same tile as a skeleton. As a tip, carry bodies around with you and drop the skeletons and animate them when you need it

Re: Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup
And animating corpses themselves won't work, you need to carry it around until it rots into a skeleton. I thought for a while that I could just pull skeletons out of corpses before one of them rotted away entirely.
