Re: WH40k discussion
Quote: The Evangelion roared.
All electronic feeds to the cockpit was still shut down. Even the recorders were jumbled. No one could hear Shinji say to himself... "Let its might be my might. Let its fury be my fury. DEATH TO THE ENEMIES OF HUMANITY!" Goddamn, that scratches an itch that only the new NGE movies have managed to scratch. I'll be trying some conversions in the near future. I took advantage of the current sale that bits 'n kits are having and ordered myself some terminator bits and some plasticard. I was considering a termie captain and to distinguish him from the other termies I considered "enhancing" his size. A bit like what this did. @Areku Yeah, noticed that a while back. Unfortunately noone seems willing to play it with me.

Heh. I know that feel, man.
Now that I think about it, Shinji's plug suit does rather look like a fire warrior's, doesn't it? ...aaand the itch's back. Converting time!
Also, regarding the termie captain. Going truescale is something I'm all for, but, since it's gonna be the only upscaled model in his squad (I'm assuming you'll put him with the other termies), he might look out of place unless the changes are subtle enough. Maybe adding extra snazz to his armour and weapons would be a surer way to increase bulky-ness without messing with the scale? Not too sure, though, never upscaled a termie before.

What is this devilry. You folks with your large armies and cool conversions. Me with my tiny Imperial Guard group. It's all lies, I tell you.

Oh boy.
Which codex, space marines? If so, then maybe it won't be as much of a trouble, since most units are fairly straightforward in their functions.
If you're playing eldar, on the other hand...

Re: WH40k discussion
Smurfs master race here. The rules, like areku said, are pretty straight forward, it's pretty much a question of "this shoots at that and I need threes to hit and fours to wound".

Re: WH40k discussion
Just finished skimming through the rules about 6 hours before the event. I'm so going to have my own ass handed to me.
-edit-
And just got home from ~8 hour tournament. Lost all three matches by about 200ish points, but still enjoyed the hell out of it.
Probably the best moments were on the last match when a single rhino absorbed all the attacks in four consecutive turns from a pursuing trigon, or maybe when my captain made 5/6 5++ saves and then single-handedly took down another trigon.
Or maybe when a single dreadnought took on three predators and held the whole left flank. The terrain made a choke point, so it just sat there getting shot a by auto-cannons and vindicators while shouting "LIKE I GIVE A ♥♥♥♥".
Or better yet, when the dread with the missile launcher held it's ground against nine goddamn Obliterators absorbing nine lascannon hits per turn.
Things I learned.
Well, my army really isn't competitive at all, I need less troop choices and more heavy support. Maybe a couple of predators, or even a vindicator.

My only gripe so far is the lack of thunder hammers.

I want to read the books. I just haven't bought any of them yet. I have read other 40K stories though. They're really cool.
