I just memorize it. I make big mines though, 5 wide by 3 tall tunnels, spaced in a grid fashion and with frequent intersections. It's usually quite easy to just wander and find the exit/entrance visually.

That said, the ability to create lavafalls down the side of a mountain made me happy, very happy.

Go whitts, go. Load that save. Do it hard, do it slow, do it anyway you know.
Yeah I'm pretty delirious right now.

I'm doing it reeeeeeeeal hard.

There's a slight bug with waterfalls/lavafalls though, you all will see what I mean.

Anyways, I'm making a giant (top of the map high) base in the lake by the main area.

Ah, what a view! And look at the size of that thing!
Image

Getting closer...
Image

Look at that beautiful lobby! And what nice oak doors!
Image

The storeroom/workroom, located on the 2nd floor.
Image

Just a few of my many belongings.
Image

Ah, would you look at that! Beautifully crafted ladders, with plenty of light!
Image

All rooms after the 2nd floor look like this, for the exception of the top floor which will be a suite/battle tower.
Image

Beautiful view from above!

Currently 9 completed floors, with the structure made for 11. I just ran out of dirt and need to get some more.
The long slits on each floor will be glass windows.

Well here be mine:

Attachment:
World3.rar [2.7 MiB]

So when you start you will be inside my home.
Going left will take you outside and going right/forward will take you upstairs and bathroom.

When your outside you will notice a stone building to your right and wooden buildings, a storage stone building and a tree grove to your left.
The Stone building happens to be where i grow crops. Which i then store in the storage building next to it.

Inside the storage:
-left Chest: Wheat and tree saplings
-right Chest: Tools, dirt, sand, glass and sidewalk tiles.

Inside the House:
Downstairs:
Large Chest - Uncooked Pork, Stocks of Stone, Assorted monster loot, misc.

Upstairs:
First Chest -Iron ore

Second Chest - Smelted Iron bars

To get to the mine you exit the house, and turn left. There should be a sign [i left signs all over the place]. Follow the torches to the mine,
which i formally named Fire Forge Mine.

Inside the Mine:
- There are two entrances
- The other one leads to a back uninhabited area, i built a safehouse there.
- Signs are placed to help you navigate.
- Signs which say Mine FF lvl: [letter][#] are mining paths/shafts they lead to dead end to dig.
- The lowest floor has an incineration room called 'Fire Forge' which is what the mine is named after.
- Don't dig down on the last floor
- Workbenches and Forges are placed around the mine at intervals, for your convenience.

Abundances:
Iron - Mine FF:B1 to 2
Coal - Uninhabited Area [other side of mine]
Gold/Diamond - Unknown, Supposedly abundant in Mine FF: C1

Please remember to harvest crops and replant them.
Please remember to replant trees after cutting them down in the tree grove

Other:
The Second floor of my home had a patio, use it as a monster lookout.
There are Windows on the main floor of the home, use them to scout for monsters.
Try not to destroy anything.

Edit: Whitty, i don;t know how you found Diamonds but, GJ.
Also, i think maybe mine is more qualified, because people will find it hard to actually have anything to accomplish in that massive city.

Edit2: your call though.
