Meaning, there will be a winning condition and the game rules will be slightly different. The gameplay will hopefully be even more interesting.
Also there will be another offensive weapon codenamed WMD : )
Still problems with the master server, so no servers list for now : (.
MASTER SERVER UP! YOU CAN PLAY!

With mention of powerups and stuff I'm gonna have to ask: Will there be any kind of character customization? It's ok now but I can imagine people feeling kind of unspecial when you got 30 of the other guys looking the exact same as you. Character customisation is unlikely, to be honest. We're thinking of an "Anarchy" mode where no-one is in a set team and players choose their alignment, and maybe you could set your character's clothing colour or something in there, but aligning different clothes to animations is a massive pain in the ass. Maybe hats could happen, but likely not full blown character customisation. That kind of stuff is simply easier with polygonal rendering <_< Atnas wrote: I think this is a good idea, but a better implementation would be that your backpack is destroyed only when suiciding. I know as a miner when I die transporting stones I depend on being able to get my stuff back after I respawn, if it hasn't already been pilfered. (I don't know how the infinity item people can live with their k/d ratio though!) Hey Atnas! That is a good intermediate solution, but the concept of an inventory would interfere with infinity items as well - you could only carry 2 stacks of 2 bombs as a knight if maximally encumbered (and -> slower perhaps) or 2 stacks of 10 arrows as an archer. This not only removes motives for farming items like a crazy person by killing yourself a few times (and ending up with a dismal k:d) but also improves natures chances - no more archers eating entire trees! Oh also, with funding, you might be able to steal peoples funds by killing them (~1/3 of their funds would be left on their body), though you'd have to take them to a tent (and therefore be taxed on your kills as well) to use them. You might pick the funds up as equivalent gold stacks to make it clearer that you have to "cash the cheque" before you can use it. I'm worried that this sort of thing might encourage teamkilling, but I suppose it depends what sort of company you keep. Servers being able to turn off teamkilling couldn't hurt. I can't connect to the masterserver either, fwiw. Oh wait. Now I can, and I'm on dxp's server. Huh. Maybe try closing the game and then connecting again, people with issues.

Re: King Arthur's Gold - A 2D Minecraft-like
Why does everyone want character customization so much? King Arthur's Gold definitely isn't a social game-- it's more of a strategy game. Having customizable skins isn't really important.
If you wanted to make your own skin you'd have to draw every frame. I doubt anyone wants to do that. It's a lot of work.
It might work if Geti and whoever is making the game can make the game tint the sprites like with RvR's decorations... that way he would have to sprite every color, and could probably give players secondary colors they can choose.

I've been restarting the game every few hours, but I still can't get the server list to load. The console says that it failed to connect to the master server whenever I try to update the list. I was able to play on dragonxp's server, though, by directly entering his IP.

I highly disagree with this. I definitely think this game is primarily a social game at this point. Strategy game? People drop in and out every minute, no tech tree, fighting units are at a constant availability and limit, not much resource management except in that you need to mien to build. I think it could be a strategy game in the future, I'm not really in a position to say. But now? Not any kind of strategy game by any rubric I can think of. I think it would be interesting to try playing it as a serious RTS once the next patch comes out.

Chess has no tech trees. Would you deny that chess is a strategy game?
You do have a point though. Perhaps King Arthur's Gold is not exactly a strategy game. At the very least I would call it an action game. But surely not a social game.

Hah... Why does every game have to be social nowadays? Can't games just be games?

A bug with bombs. --Letting a bomb go off in your hands (when held in a overhand position) can break terrain in a way that allows you to squeeze into 1 block heights. But, you fall to the bottom of the map when you glitch into terrain, rather than flying sideways.
